We now see Tony accept the premise that “fiscal austerity” is GOP concern.
This is a lie. The GOP has slashed taxes on wealthy Americans/corporations for decades.

Tony do tax policies impact the deficit? How did Republicans add to the deficit? How much in 4 yrs?

Now we see the hostage- taking described. So is this truly “bothsides”. Sure similar to “Hostage-taker” and “hostage”.

Here’s context impt REPUBLICANS did similar before and it was bad but only to Dem Presidents. So this intermittent #DebtCeiling fight is premised on a lie!

Now WaPo @TonyRomm are stenographers of GOP disinformation printed for eternity.

Oh @TonyRomm incase you forgot NO republicans voted for the Inflation Reduction act that also lowered the #deficit

You could have framed that as important as opposed to @JoeBiden signing as the relevant detail.

Would be helpful Tony to write that Republicans have a terrible track record on the deficit. Why not mention how Republican taxation policies have contributed?
NB: It is time to alert America the GOP that attacks our democracy &fellow Americans - is willing to trigger a default.
