Caste discrimination has no place in society anywhere in the world, including here in America.
That is why some colleges and universities have banned it on campuses, and workers are fighting for their rights and their dignity in cases involving caste discrimination. 🧵
I’m proud to see Seattle leading the country by taking steps to end this discrimination and ensure that all people are able to live freely and thrive.

Today I am announcing my endorsement of @JoeBiden for President of the United States.
VP Biden is a deeply dedicated public servant with the ability to unite the American people. I am moved by his compassion and ability to connect with people on the most human level.
As Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chair, I believe wholeheartedly that gov't can & must be a force for good—expanding access to health care & education, fighting the climate crisis, passing humane immigration reform, & looking out for working people instead of corporations.
I started this campaign as an ardent and vocal surrogate for @BernieSanders & while I have not always agreed with Vice President @JoeBiden on matters of policy, I'm ready to work with him to craft & then implement the most progressive agenda of any candidate in history.
As voters across America head to the polls this #SuperTuesday, a few words on why I believe @BernieSanders will be the best president for #LGBTQ folks. 👇🏾
I’m proud to be an ally in the movement for LGBTQ equality – fighting FOR marriage equality and AGAINST anti-trans bills in Washington State & speaking out for trans equality in Congress.
And I’m the very proud mom of a fabulous non-binary child.
For me, this is personal.
For my kid – and all our LGBTQ kids, friends & family – I want a president who is authentic and consistent on equality, even when it’s not popular.
1. I posted a clip of the revolutionary James Baldwin earlier. If you’re a person of color in politics, you get this question ALL THE TIME. Baldwin’s answer is the truth and rage that legitimately exists.
2. It is why it is offensive and insuffficient to tell people of color to just trust someone—particularly those running for President— who does not have experience of putting themselves on the line to fight racism—or has a terrible record of racist policy that harmed millions.
3. I considered cutting the beginning part with the question to just have Baldwin’s answer but I left the whole clip because I found myself seething and cringing at the arrogance & superiority—& dismissiveness—of the questioner and it felt both familiar and necessary to include.
I’m about to take the stage in Des Moines where I’ll formally endorse @BernieSanders for President.
Tune in!
@BernieSanders I'm with Bernie because there is too much suffering today, too much greed and inequality, too much racism and sexism and xenophobia today.
Suffering from the burden of student debt, unaffordable healthcare, the climate crisis, and so much more.
Suffering caused by the failure of our institutions and our democracy - that increasingly belong and cater to the wealthiest people and the largest corporations instead of WE THE PEOPLE.
I have been fighting for #MedicareForAll for a long time. This year, I was proud to introduce the most progressive #MedicareForAll legislation that includes a two-year transition & covers long-term care for seniors & folks with disabilities.
We've built an incredible movement that's never been stronger, w/the first-ever House hearings, over half the @HouseDemocrats as co-sponsors, a broad coalition of 30+ labor unions, 250+ economists & hundreds of grassroots orgs across the nation who all support #MedicareForAll!
@HouseDemocrats We have two presidential candidates who are staunchly committed to #MedicareForAll & have made it a defining issue in this election. I've been honored to work w/@BernieSanders in this fight & am grateful for his visionary leadership & ironclad commitment to #MedicareForAll.
