Before the season of Spring, we enter the season of Swings…🧵

#FPL #DGW25
How ironic that it’s Gameweek 2-5 that brings us Liverpool’s first double of the season.

Pun aside, I’m quite optimistic about their chances as you will read…

(This thread links different sections far more than usual to cater for the more chaotic landscape)
💎 Liverpool - All assets

Salah is the best asset to own from Liverpool.

Last week his EO in the Top 100k was 4.56%.

I’m expecting it to be around 105% this GW - based on logical assumptions (derived from total Transfers in and the general outlook on him).

Owning roughly…
95% of Salah in a DGW is a very good opportunity for a big rank gain.

The main reason being his ceiling.

It’s not quite what it used to be, however it’s still there with his brilliant xMins, penalties and simply the nature of his play style.

A high volume of shot taking…
with quality to penetrate and exploit team’s in the half spaces is to your benefit.

The midfield trio that’s been starting is one key for why I still have a good amount of confidence stored in him.

Assuming Fabinho performs better than he did against Real Madrid, him and…
Bajcetic do a good job at forming an almost double pivot at times to protect Liverpool’s back line especially against transitions.

What Fabinho lacks in legs and ability to get around the pitch, Henderson makes up for.

The increased solidarity helps all assets, including…
Salah’s goal threat.

This is for two reasons:

1. Henderson reverts to a somewhat older role where he drifts in between the lines in a more attacking role.

This reduces Salah’s need to press over a greater distance.

2. The more important one - TAA can revert back to an older…
role. He can start picking up the ball in the more inner channels with Salah going wider at times, thereby inducing more available combinations to himself.

This leads onto my next point which is TAA - the 2nd best asset for me.

The two fixtures are arguably the best two for…
clean sheet returns.

It’s the perfect balance of a side who will absorb pressure but still play in a manner which is expansive to the extent that there’s the realistic chance of attacking returns.

In the most respectful way, I can’t see Gomez starting which is certainly to…
the aid of the prospective clean sheet.

The clean sheets aren’t nailed to any extent, but from a logical standpoint there’s enough evidence there to warrant the “risk”

Which I don’t think is particularly big anyway to acquire assets who have huge ceilings at low ownership.
Naturally the same logic applies with Robertson.

When asked between the two, it’s a coin flip really.

The more I think about it, the more I like Robertson.

I’ve seen enough from him going forward to warrant saving the extra £0.5m

TAA the more logical, Robertson my gut feeling
Referencing back to the clean sheets, Liverpool won’t be playing a side anywhere close to Madrid’s level.

The asset who’s a very close 4th in the hierarchy for me is Nunez.

If you have followed me since the summer you will know I rate this man incredibly highly.

Two main…
reasons on why I’m choosing to avoid him.

1. The route

For most to facilitate Salah as well as Nunez, you can’t have Kane.

In the 4th section of this thread you see in detail my reasoning for not wanting to sell Kane.

For Toney and Nketiah owners who can upgrade, it’s far…
from optimal as well.

2. xMins

I’m not restructuring my team that much and making as many sacrifices as is needed for 150 mins and maybe less

The haul will inevitably come, but with everything considered, it’s worth the gamble to hope it’s not this week

2nd best LIV attacker
I wouldn’t even really consider any of the others.

Robertson worth the extra £0.3m over VVD.

I’m very strongly against Gakpo for the reasons below.

I see it as the biggest trap this week and with 328k transfers in for him already, avoiding him becomes even more profitable.
💎 Arsenal, Everton, Wolves

Simplistic matter for myself, as such I’ll keep it that way.

Arsenal:

Keep your trio and don’t use a transfer going sideways on them.

There’s more pressing matters at hand.

There’s more in the section below but; Martinelli (& Nketiah to a lesser…
extent) do well this week.

Everton:

My perspective on Tarkowski is shown below.

I don’t expect them to keep a clean sheet, hence I don’t see the merit in bringing them in.

Attacking assets lack ceiling and consistency.

Wolves:

Mitrovic-less Fulham may be an opportunity…
for a clean sheet, but it’s a very similar story to the above.

Kilman > Dawson > Tarkowski

In most cases the hit for any one of these assets will likely just be matched by appearance points.

Probability wise given the fixtures, it’s somewhat dangerous to be bullish.
💎 Captaincy

As discussed previously, Salah is the best option.

I’m putting Odegaard ahead of Saka this week for captaincy (actually somewhat tempted to move the armband there).

The graphic below is evidence of an explosive run with large hauls over an extended period of time.
That is something Saka has never really been able to provide owners.

In a DGW, where the ability to maximise gains is increased, I’d say it’s logical to go with the higher upside option.

Odegaard - BPS>

Saka is a great asset, but I see more merit in aggressive captaincy here.
💎 Analysing Prospective Transfers

This section looks at specific moves numerous people are contemplating and offers my perspective on them:

1. Gakpo to Mahrez;

Absolutely not. I’m convinced Mahrez starts (alongside Grealish he’s their best player at the moment). BOU are…
not to be taken lightly, they are playing well as of late.

City have been awful on the road in comparison to when they are away - dropping your most inform player to reverse that trend wouldn’t logical.

Huge ceiling, with a very good fixture (it’s still a very good fixture,…
just Bournemouth are slightly better than the general consensus makes them out to be).

2. Selling Kane to Nunez for a hit.

The main issue I have with selling Kane is the combination of points security + haul potential.

He has the realistic capacity to haul against anyone…
and in the next three (CHE, WOL, NFO) there’s a good chance he gets at least one big score.

Rating Nunez’s xMins at 150 this week, it would take some seriously good performances to be profitable on that hit over the coming weeks.

(DGW29 is being given too much weight, when…
deliberating on this transfer. So many other assets double, hence the relative value of his double significantly declines).

Rather keep Kane and “attack” Liverpool through their defensive assets.
💎 Chip Strategy

Next week I will go into far more depth on this, let’s just get the next set of available information - that will bring a greater sense of clarity.

Chip strategy is only a pressing matter if your team is in disarray for this week.

My favoured strategy is below
There’s quite a lot of talk about:

WC27
FH28
BB29

My main two critiques of this (to clarify it has its’ strengths as well):

1. Lack of upside and protection for the latter GW’s.

@BenCrellin produced this life saving graphic and when looked at in some depth, this strategy…
doesn’t allow for a particularly strong end to the season.

2. You can have a very strong team in GW27 & GW29 with the usage of Free Transfers and a Free Hit in GW28.

There difference between the two squads doesn’t warrant the usage of the two chips.

Having a BB squad, so…
early in the season requires the shifting over funds at some point out of the bench assets and into the main squad.

Another issue you will inevitably have to solve.

There’s one GW between 27 and 29, yet there’s 3 weeks between them.

Enough time for your WC to be damaged.
FH28
WC33
BB34

That is my current favoured strategy.

GW32 may be an issue, may even be a big one forcing me to change it but let’s see what happens with the cup.
That concludes the thread, you could honestly discuss FPL for hours on end currently, it’s such an exciting time for the game.

Just take enough information in so that your confident but not overloaded.

Then be rational in your decision making and follow your gut.

Good luck.

The traps are set…🧵

#FPL
The player pool who you can genuinely select from is considerably large this week, especially compared to usual.

This means swings, and big ones.

Between Arsenal and Man City alone, there’s 11 viable assets.

Be thorough with your decision making process.

Let’s break it down…
💎 Nketiah (Scepticism)

Last time there was a DGW, I propelled Harry Kane > Erling Haaland propaganda as much as I could.

The difference was 1 point, but now we have Round 2.

Before saying anything, I am completely aware of and agree with a lot of the strengths of the…

The best DGW triple up’s:

Man City - Haaland, KDB & Akanji

Arsenal - Odegaard, Saka & Gabriel

Team structures, money ITB, etc will have permutations on how accessible these combinations are for you.

#FPL
I’m trying to get as close to this as possible.
By DGW I just meant the fact that they have DGW’s, not just in isolation for this week, but rather going forward

Contrary to what I said about there being no thread earlier, I’m on a train for a bit, so I’ve decided to write the whole thing again.

Let’s hope you are able to read this.
💎 Man Utd & Leeds assets

I’m still in firm agreement with what I said below regarding Leeds assets.

Rodrigo (potentially injured) just isn’t performing well enough to justify a spot in a midfield where you will have MCI/MUN/ARS assets for their DGW’s.

Gnoto is cheaper and…

Following my Top 10k finish in the EURO Fantasy game, I take a deep dive into strategies to help you succeed in a new game…
This game isn’t the same as FPL, so in order to be successful please don’t approach it as so.

There’s different rules and nuances with the point scoring system. For those who play FanTeam, it’s far more similar to that – a game where aggression is rewarded more than…

💎 Key Takeaways from GW5

Haaland is going to cause some serious damage.

His movement and speed is a frightening combination, City create so many chances that he will score a bucket load of goals.

There’s not really an opportunity to go without him at the moment.
Robertson looks a shadow of himself last season.

I would sell him for Reece James if you don’t own him, otherwise I would give him the next two games.

Good fixtures.

The consistent early substitutions are most certainly a concern.

Captaincy: (1/14)

💎 Erling Haaland
💎 Mohammed Salah
💎 Ilkay Gundogan
💎 Gabriel Jesus

Short 🧵assessing the options…

#FPL
Gundogan may have caught your eye on this list.

I really like him as an option.

He was benched against Palace, and the fact that he’s been playing so well on the pitch makes it almost certain that he starts today.

Forest whilst overall they were decent, certainly showed…
some defensive fragility.

They would have conceded more than two goals if Spurs were more clinical.

City will unlikely be that forgiving; rather ruthless.

Gundogan’s trademark second man runs will no doubt cause Forest problems.

Haaland will occupy a lot of attention from…
