Let's talk about why @clickup's #LevelUp2023 is a masterpiece and the new benchmark in virtual events going forward.

It is so well-produced. Compelling.

A benchmark in how serious brands need to market themselves using events in 2023.

THREAD. Image
Amazing sound and visuals.

The sound was crystal-clear.

The camera work was perfect.

The set design was superb.

They sweated over the little details. It shows.

It's compelling to watch. No Zoom Fatigue here. Image
Engaging.

"Here. Take a photo of this QR code." With a pause.

"This is our partner directory."

Don't just talk at your audience. Pause. Ask them to get engaged with your content. Image
Multiple camera angles. And a rehearsed speaker.

It is clear that Marshal Tyler has rehearsed.

It's clear everyone's rehearsed.

No winging it here.

No sitting allowed - you could FEEL the energy in the room. ImageImage
Personality.

This event OOZED personality.

Audience cheering.

Confetti.

A beautiful set design.

Awesome customized music - a RAP to close this out? Dude.

This is slick. ImageImageImage
@clickup commissioned a custom rap for their event.

This is how you become memorable in the era of AI.

It's memorable.

It's completely different from how you would expect a task tracking SaaS (I know it does far more) to market themselves.

Worth a watch on it's own. ImageImage
On-demand sessions.

They had their keynote and some streamed sessions.

But now you can go in and watch a ton of extra, value-added content.

This is how you deliver crazy-good value. ImageImage
Fun stuff.

Custom games.

Share a photo and win.

A freaking Spotify playlist.

And the #LevelUp2023 hashtag for socials.

Yes, you can have fun and do business. ImageImageImageImage
@clickup with #LevelUp2023 has shown they give a damn about their customers.

They could have done a press release and a quick live stream.

In the era of AI, they INVESTED into their brand image.

And it's going to be profitable because #LevelUp2023 was memorable.

I got a response from @davidja521 regarding the proposed encampment service depots in #ldnont.

Let's take a look at each question.

Time for another thread.
For context, here's yesterday's thread.

As I was unable to book a meeting ahead of the council vote on approving funding for the service depots, I sent in my questions by e-mail.

If you would like to read the response from Councillor Ferreira, I've put it in a Google Doc.

The only edits were:
- Moving an image to the end of the email for easier reading
- Bolding inline responses from Mr. Ferreira.

Onto the details.

Next week #ldnont council votes on funding proposed "service depots" for homeless encampments.

Last thread, I mentioned that @davidja521 said he's unable to meet by Zoom and asked I email my questions.

So I did. And here they are.

Thread time! 🧵
For context, here's the previous thread detailing the current situation.

After looking at the surveys and reading over some reports, I'm left with a few questions regarding these depots.

@StevensonLDN raised some questions too at council.

Before I get into my questions, @davidja521 will be hosting an information session on June 22nd at 5:30 PM.

It's at 255 Horton St E on the 3rd floor in the Community Hall Ballroom.

I encourage you to attend.

If you're getting started in content creation, you've probably looked around at microphones.

There are tons out there.

Condenser, dynamic, USB, XLR...

Which one should you use?

What mic is best for you?

Time to answer these questions with a MICROPHONE MEGA-THREAD.
First, let's talk about connection type.

Your two main connectors are XLR and USB.

USB mics are easier to use.

XLR mics require an audio interface to convert XLR to USB.

If you're just getting started, USB is fantastic. Plug and play, hit record, done.
What USB mics lack is an upgrade path.

If you end up wanting to upgrade your mic later, you'll need to replace it.

That's why I prefer an audio interface.

I can throw any XLR mic on it, and it'll work with my computer.

My people have been attending hybrid and virtual events for the last two weeks.

My main event guy had this to say:

"People don't know how to do hybrid."

Here's the TOP THREE major issues he found with the hybrids he attended online.

🧵
#1: In-person audience asking questions off-mic.

Your online audience needs to be able to hear every question.

If they can't, it's seconds (to minutes) of silence for the online audience.

Then the chat gets flooded with "what was the question!?!?"

Sucky experience.
Asking questions off-mic sends a message to your online audience though.

It says, "you're not in the room, so we don't care about you."

Lame.

Oh, and if you're recording the session?

Off-mic questions won't be recorded.

So the question is lost forever.

Boo.

One simple trick is all it takes to make you look awesome on camera.

And it's free.

Everyone is on camera these days. Whether for podcasts or YouTube videos, you need to look your best.

Why blow that first impression?

Ready to look your best? Here we go. 🧵
Tip 1: Clean your camera lens.

Most webcams on laptops are at the top-center of your screen.

Where do you open your laptop?

Top-center.

Look at it now.

Probably looks like a mini version of the Exxon Valdez around your camera.

A quick wipe with a cloth is all it takes.
Same thing applies to your phone.

Your fingers go everywhere on your phone.

If you take a photo and it looks "foggy", that's finger grease, baby.

Look at these photos. This is before I cleaned my phone's camera. Everything is foggy. And lights have a weird shine.

Many online events pre-22 were cheap recreations of in-person.

Tons of speakers.

Lots of content.

Little connection.

Low quality control.

Thus, Zoom Fatigue was born.

People were tired of listening to horrid audio all day. Image
With hybrid, we managed to have some in-person events again.

But many were expensive recreations of pandemic-era Zoom events.

Turns out seeing the presenter's full body, pants included, didn't make boring slideshows better.

People want more.

They want EXPERIENCES.
