Introducing #PolygonID, a decentralized and privacy-preserving solution for SSI in #Web3. Polygon ID implements the Iden3 protocol and is built to overcome challenges in SSI adoption.

The internet was built without an identity layer, leading to reliance on centralized platforms that exploit personal data. The Self-Sovereign Identity (#SSI) movement aims to change that by giving users control over their personal data.

The SSI ecosystem is composed of Issuers, Identity Holders, and Verifiers. Decentralized Identifiers (#DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials have become the industry standard for SSI, with over 100 DID methods registered.

Polygon ID combines the benefits of the standard with the unique benefits of a Web3 native solution, providing better privacy for users compared to VCs and SBTs.

Zero-knowledge proofs (#zkp) play a crucial role in solving the challenges of decentralization and self-sovereignty in SSI. Polygon ID uses zkp to provide enhanced solutions to the challenges of SSI at different levels of the architectural design.

Identity Definition: Polygon ID's innovative approach to identity definition, through the use of zkp, decouples identity from keys. Identity can be represented by multiple identifiers and is not just a public key.

Identity State: Polygon ID introduces the concept of an "Identity State", allowing for privacy-preserving proofs, making it easier to implement Proof of Uniqueness in various applications.

By making Proof of Uniqueness more common, Polygon ID has the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with the internet, protecting privacy while also streamlining the digital experience.
