If Sidney Powell’s stupid legal challenges failed, and if Pence refused to falsely certify Trump as the winner, the apparent plan was for Trump to call in the military and deputize the militias to keep Trump in power by force. 1/
Team Trump planned to use the Insurrection Act (which applies in the event of extreme unrest/violence) and a 2018 Executive Order (which applies only in the event of foreign election interference) as a pretext. 2/
To satisfy the requirements of the Insurrection Act, they needed the Jan 6 protest to be “wild.” Had the bombs gone off or if Antifa had shown up, this likely wld have done the trick. 3/
The Proud Boys tried to create ambiguity as to who was responsible for the violence by dressing “as Antifa,” but people saw through it and made fun of them for it. 4/
Had the bombs gone off, it would have done the trick. But that plan was thwarted too. We still don’t know who planted them. 5/
The 2018 Executive Order required foreign interference, which is why they spread lies about foreign interference. 6/
Roger Stone helped by concocting the phony Stop the Steal campaign. He also was a top Stop the Steal connector. He was the common denominator among the Proud Boys, Florida Oath Keepers, Trump, and Alex Jones. He worked closely w/ Mike Flynn as well. Flynn is another connector. 7/
Flynn brought in Sydney Powell and veterans groups and was more tied to the Christian Right than Stone, although Stone became “born again” around July 2020 & had Christian Right ties of his own. 8/
Ali Alexander was Stone’s front man (as in 2018). He was in charge of logistics. Posobiec (another Stone protege) helped w/ messaging on social media. 9/
As far as I can tell, Stone was the first influential member of Team Trump to suggest that Trump call in the military based on unfounded election fraud claims. This was Sept. 2020. 10/ mediamatters.org/roger-stone/ro…
11/
12/ The apparent plan was for Trump to call up the military and deputized the militias based either on unfounded claims of widespread election fraud OR based on violence. Stone seemed comfortable w/ either option.
13/ For reasons that are not entirely clear, Trump failed to hold up his end. He did not invoke the Insurrection Act or the 2018 Executive Order. He apparently concluded that the Proud Boys dressed as “antifa” did not provide enough cover.
14/ Nor did it help that, despite his best efforts, Trump loyalist John Ratcliffe (Trump’s DNI director) had failed to produce a report establishing widespread pro-Biden election interference.
18/ Stewart Rhodes mused before Jan 6 that Trump wld be more likely to invoke the Insurrection Act if “antifa” were to set off bombs. cnn.com/2022/10/04/pol…
19/ As I said, they needed violence at the Capitol to give Trump a pretext for incoming the Insurrection Act, especially bc John Ratcliffe didn’t come through w/ the ODNI report on foreign interference.
20/ Stone also helped w/ the Pence angle. He organized rallies w/ the Proud Boys outside or near lawmakers homes in an apparent effort to terrorize them into objecting to Biden’s win, which in turn likely put pressure on Pence to reject the results too.
23/ Here is Roger Stone w/ a group of Proud Boys in Rick Scott’s hometown of Naples, FL on Jan 3, the day of the Rick Scott protest that Stone himself promoted.
24/ By this time, the Proud Boys had a well deserved reputation for violence. They had formed terrifying alliances as well. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2018…
26/ Stone can’t claim ignorance as to the Proud Boys’ violent proclivities bc he’s the guy who helped them remain in tact after their violence in NY got them into significant legal trouble in October 2018. huffpost.com/entry/roger-st…
27/ It was after the violence spree of October 2018 that Stone’s minions, Tarrio and Biggs, rose into leadership positions in the gang. Stone had previously seemed to celebrate Biggs’s violent proclivities.
28/ I don’t know if Stone knew Lance Wallnau, a leader in the NAR, a massive underreported and politically influential dominionist movement that Liz Cheney apparently didn’t want the Jan 6 Committee to mention. But Wallnau knew Stone.
29/ It was Wallnau’s employee, Mercedes Sparks, who created the widely promoted Jan 6 map that directed Trump supporters (predicted by her to be in the millions) to the US Capitol steps, which were off limits to protect lawmakers from terrorists. buckscountybeacon.com/2022/10/domini…
31/ Ali Alexander characterized Stone his co-“knife fighter” in the run up to Jan 6 (right after Stone was pardoned by Trump). Stone is the connector from hell. #AllRoadsLeadToRogerSto
32/ Bookmarking this bc I had forgotten about it.
33/ I don’t know if Stone collaborated directly w/ “Every Legal Vote,” the site that later claimed credit for 80M “Stop the Steal” action items. But “every legal vote” was a slogan that he proposed to Flynn when they spoke on 11/5. Sydney Powell (Flynn’s attorney) worked w/ ELV.
As discussed in the piece, Every Legal Vote was started by United in Purpose, a Christo-fascist data mining firm. In 2016, UIP’s director, Bob McEwen, met in Ukraine w/ one of the oligarchs who had funded the work of Paul Manafort (Stone’s friend & former lobbying partner). 35/
What I didn’t know when I wrote the piece is that Stone and McEwen (a member of the CNP) had collaborated w/ each other in the 1980s. As I said, Stone is a connector. 36/
😳”Stop the Steal” 2020 was officially launched w/ a tweet by Roger Stone protege Jack Posobiec when Trump failed to meet the Labor Day (9/7/20) deadline that Mitch McConnell had reportedly set for him to turn around his cratering poll numbers. @TheJusticeDept@RepRaskin. 37/
38/
39/ Three days later (9/10/20), Stone proposed in the Alex Jones show that Trump shld consider involving the military based on unfounded election-fraud claims. mediamatters.org/roger-stone/ro…
40/ Stone’s Christian Right connections included Ed Martin of the Phyllis Schlafly Eagles.
41/ On 11/4/20, Ali Alexander (Stone’s front man in charge of logistics) stated that the “Stop the Steal” campaign was working w/15 partners. Ed Martin was one of them.
42/ Stone’s Christian Right connections also included Rod Martin who was at the time a member of the Southern Baptist Convention’s executive committee.
43/ Rod Martin promoted the Every Legal Vote website and was apparently involved w/ United in Purpose.
46/ Rod Martin planning to meet with NAR (dominionist) leader Lance Wallnau in Dec 2020.
47/ “On Nov. 11, 2020, [Rod] Martin tweeted that 428,000 people had already “taken action — in just our first day! —through our ‘Every Legal Vote’ campaign.’” buckscountybeacon.com/2022/11/united…
48/ An excellent point as well. I wonder if the National Guard under Chris Miller felt bound by this. I also wonder about Rep. Scott Perry, as he was a former Brigadier General in the National Guard, and Trump’s chief of staff (Mark Meadows) burned documents after meeting w/ him.
50/ @TimInHonolulu’s tweet got me looking into Scott Perry again. I knew Perry had tried to install Jeff Clark, a #BigLie proponent, at DOJ. But did not know about Perry’s National Guard credentials.
51/ (So far I see no direct connection between Perry & Stone, so the Scott Perry info is a side point to my thread.)
52/ FFS. Here’s one of Roger Stone’s Christo-fascist pals, Ed Martin, wearing a MAGA hat to the World Congress of Families (WCF) in 2019. The WCF links the Kremlin to the Christian Right via Alexey Komov, the employee of indicted Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeev.
53/ I’ve written about the Kremlin-linked WCF often, including here. It has ties to, among others, Lance Wallnau’s event planner (Steve Brown) who assisted Stone’s front man (Ali Alexander) w/ Stop the Steal events. buckscountybeacon.com/2022/11/united…
54/ Some familiar faces at Ed Martin’s Schlafly forum in 2019.
55/ One of Charles Bausman’s websites features articles from Roger Stone’s blog. He, too, attended the 2019 WCF. The WCF is potentially significant bc, among other reasons, Konstantin Malofeev has been known to fund far right causes outside of Russia. buckscountybeacon.com/2022/07/produc…
56/ Malofeev speaking at the WCF. I’m not sure of the year.
57/ Stewart Rhodes belonged to Stone’s “Friends of Stone” chat group.
The nonprofit “Parental Rights” was founded by pro-Trump attorney Michael Farris, a proponent of Christian homeschooling and private Christian schools. They work w/Moms4Liberty, and they are coming for PA. 1/ #Christofascism
Roger Stone protégé Jack Posobiec & others used the social justice protests following George Floyd’s murder as a launching pad to further divide the country in the Summer of 2020. 1/
Trump did not want the public to know the severity of the coronavirus crisis in 2020 bc this wld impact the economy & his re-election prospects. It is no coincidence that he hired Michael Caputo—a protege & close friend of political “fixer” Roger Stone—as HHS spokesperson. 1/
MTG has always reminded me of that crazy astronaut lady who wore diapers to drive across country (no pit stops) to stalk her ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend. A deranged stalker. 1/
“The problem with Maria [Bartiromo] is she has GOP conspiracy theories in her ear. And they use her for their message sometimes.” - Fox News executive 1/
This quote (among others) is included here. I’ll try to get a link to the underlying evidence and post it of I can find it. 2/
In the meantime, I think Fox News needs to send Maria Bartiromo off to the mountains where she can live her best life and stop destroying our country. 3/
