Fun read about the #Manson murders, the ‘60s and Hollywood. Intel Agencies get plenty of space, too. There is a short section that every #JFK assassination conspiracy theorist & denier should read: the chapter on the incredible Dr. West
Dr. Louis Jolyon West has quite the Wikipedia entry. Son of Ukrainian Jewish immigrants, he hustled hard to receive special Army Medical training, get to Colonel in the air force, become chair of psychiatry at University of Oklahoma… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Jol…
And was involved in every major brainwashing/cult court thing in American history except the Manson trial. Dr. West was a paid CIA contractor in the MKUltra program. He received copious $ via CIA fronts. He saved correspondence.
He boasts of being able to break minds, fake memories, erase memories, etc., which could have been a ruse for funding. He later was at UCLA and in San Fran to observe & study the hippie drug thing.
Author O’Neill makes a great circumstantial case that Dr. West the expert on hypnosis & LSD & Manson the cult leader whose Family used LSD might’ve known one another due to both being involved with the HAFMC run by David Smith en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haight_As…
Dr. West went to study psychedelics & hippies. Manson was there via his federal parole officer. Manson was Roger Smith’s *only* probie. No other assignment. 🤔 O’Neill lacks a smoking gun, but the coincidences stack high. What is weirder is Dr. West’s involvement w/Jack Ruby
To believe Oswald acted alone, one must believe not just in the #LoneGunman theory but then a *second* lone gunman (Ruby) killing Oswald. We will never know Ruby’s motives or story because he went insane while imprisoned. When? When he met Dr. West.
Ruby was jailed quickly. Doctors visited him. Immediately, Dr. West pushed to be assigned to Ruby but the judge said no. Once Ruby had new counsel, West got his chance. Ruby’s new lawyer who brought West in would later get a job at West’s university.
A few MDs saw Jack Ruby & said he was fine. Judge agreed Ruby was stable. Once West left Ruby’s room on April 26th, 1964 (note that date), Ruby was delusional & crazy. No witnesses in the room during their meeting. Ruby heard things, saw hallucinations, and was incoherent.
In June of 1964, the Warren Commission investigating the #JFK assassination visited Ruby to interview him and found a rambling shell of a man. Earlier in the proceedings, they described him as their most important witness. Useless.
Who was the CIA liaison for the Warren Commission? Richard Helms.
Who knew of MKUltra at CIA? Richard Helms.
Who was an MKUltra contractor experienced in hypnosis, psychedelics & boasted about inducing temporary mental illness? Dr. West.
Dr. West testified at the Patty Hearst trial, got to Ruby & Korean War POWs, yet never testified at the Manson trial despite brainwashing/cult issues at the heart of the case against Manson. We will never know why, but maybe it was “an MKUltra experiment gone right”.

With the alarmism about retirement savings, are the Boomers in bad shape? Media blurbs and surveys say yes. It’s not the entire picture and part of it is classification of retirement savings. The media push is to funnel more $ into the market for finance to scoop fees 🧵
The media paints scary pictures by saying the avg Boomer has $112K saved for retirement. Don’t take that at face value. Many have zero saved for a reason. marketwatch.com/story/heres-ho…
Another source says $200K for avg retirement savings. This is wild since Boomers enjoyed the stock market bull runs of multiple decades. Not all Boomers benefited from the neoliberal econ system so there were some losers due to trade/immigration policy. moneywise.com/retirement/do-…

How bad is it for Catholics? How corrupt & gay is the institution? Read “In The Closet of The Vatican” to learn about an org that serves its internal gay hierarchy & leaves parishioners to suffer the consequences of bad institutional behavior. As a Catholic, it hurts to read🧵
Readers will be angry because of its implications for all abuse scandals. The author doesn’t downplay gay abuse scandals being 90% of abuse unlike American media because he is a progressive pro-gay but wants to focus on hypocrisy of gay homophobes in the church
The higher one goes in the hierarchy, the gayer it is. One insider estimates the Vatican to be 80% gay. This has implications for promotions, which we will see later. Pope Francis’ Synod on the Family was run by “the most open and gay-friendly cardinals”.

Dune’s Butlerian Jihad is named after Samuel Butler. Not a fictional character but a real 19th century writer. Real man who in one of his books spent chapters worried about thinking machines. 🧵 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Bu…
Samuel Butler engaged with the Victorian changes in worldview and would be considered ahead of his time & a goof with his hodge podge of ideas. He was a lifelong bachelor and likely a closeted homosexual. His fiction sounds interesting but his nonfiction, well, no.
Butler believed in evolution but rejected Darwin, instead being a bit of a Lamarckian. He didn’t really fall into one school of thought or the other and was a dabbler and amateur on many topics. He would have been at home on Twitter.

The centrist whataboutism or both sides crap needs to be attacked. They need to be made to feel cowardly and dumb.

The right points out the major problems in America, critiques powerful interests & dislikes our elite. The left hates the right & ‘whiteness’ 🧵
This was a steady contrast in ‘16. Trump was ‘hateful’ but read a transcript of a rally speech; he attacked corporations that don’t support workers, out of touch DC idiots, bad trade deals/econ policy & illegals. Clinton’s targets were all internal, fellow everyday Americans
For all the enlightened, above it all centrist BS, they’re just as trapped in media framing as the partisans they look down on. Switch Clinton/Trump genders, and nothing else, and suddenly people see what was awful about Clinton & effective about Trump teenvogue.com/story/gender-s…

Media power is in the audience and narrative crafting & promotion. It’s also in figure creation. Only 40,000 people watch Stewart but his position as a figure makes him newsworthy. He become a beacon. His words gets spread by other media 🧵
CNN has fewer and fewer viewers but their reports get picked up elsewhere since it is CNN. Other entities cite “CNN reports” to spread the message. Stewart doesn’t need viewers. He just needs to be Stewart. His old role and reputation let others amplify his message.
Newsweek sold for $1. It loses money but is “Newsweek”. It is not as powerful a force as Twitter, but its ownership will always be in friendly hands. The Newsweek name matters as a piece of he ecosystem

People are focused on Hispanics’ low approval of Biden (red box), but take a look at the real outlier: +65 yo Americans. 🧵 Image
Biden is + with +65 yos with his highest approval number of any age bracket at 48%. This is insane if you consider the race cross tabs here. Only 23% of seniors are non-white so being at 48% with seniors blows out demographic expectations. aarp.org/home-garden/li…
His white approval rate is in the low 30s. It’s possible they crammed Ds into the +65 segment to lift that approval number up. Could have done the same with whites w/degrees. This was a favored tactic for Florida polling in ‘20 that showed Biden up +5%. Eagles
