#OTD the second and final game of the #Manitoba provincial senior men's hockey championship was played between the champions of the City League - the Winnipegs ('Pegs) and the champions of the Manitoba League - the Falcons.
The series was a two game aggregate, meaning the team with the most goals after two games was the champion. The Falcons held a commanding lead having beat the 'Pegs 5-0 during the first game; all goals scored by star center Frank Fredrickson.
The outcome was never in doubt, and the speedy Icelanders sailed to a dominating 10-1 victory in Game 2 for an aggregate score of 15-1!
The victory came only a day after the Falcons' left winger Magnus "Mike" Goodman won the Canadian Speed Skating championship, held in the amphitheatre rink in Winnipeg.
The Falcons' victory, lopsided though it was, would have been a much more disastrous affair for the 'Pegs had their goaltender Bill Binney not played an incredible game in the goal. Binney would go on to play professionally for the Calgary Tigers and Edmonton Eskimos of the WCHL.
For their part, Falcon's goalie Wally Byron was found by the Winnipeg Tribune to be "Invincible."
Once again, Frederickson dominated play, scoring six of the Falcons' ten goals.
Falcon fans were worried, however, to read in the same issue of the Tribune that Frederickson had decided to move to Iceland and take up a career as a commercial airline pilot.
With victory, the Falcons advanced to the Western Canada championship to determine who would travel east to vie for the Allan Cup. Their opponent would be the victor between Fort William and Lethbridge who were competing at the same time.
