City council member is criticizing continuing use of 'terrorism' language in Atlanta - live now twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens has claimed that a “Community Stakeholder Advisory Committee” represented public buy-in on the “Cop City” project.
In reality, the committee was conducting a “narrative” “offensive” on behalf of the Atlanta Police Foundation:
When committee leaders moved to kick an environmental engineer off the committee for telling press that the “Cop City” plan ignored environmental issues, Atlanta PD Chief Darin Schierbaum was allowed to vote as part of the contested removal process.
Meanwhile, some committee members who were local residents near the proposed site, who opposed the removal of environmental engineer Lily Ponitz from the committee, were not allowed a vote in the matter at all.
Bond hearings are happening right now for many of the people arrested from Sunday evening events in the South River Forest. Watch here: youtube.com/live/KCTOlUPOA…
Every single person so far has been denied bond, each of them have domestic terrorism charges.
Judge A. W. Davis is now hearing from the @splcenter lawyer who was arrested and charged with domestic terrorism. Peter Johnson, the prosecutor, is now speaking and saying that "this is a dynamic case" and "just because you're an attorney, doesn't mean you can't commit a crime."
Arrest warrants filed in Georgia in December justify charging #StopCopCity protesters with “Domestic Terrorism” by citing a federal Dept of Homeland Security “extremist” designation.
Most of the original “Domestic Terrorism” warrants for environmentalists were written by Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent [Gerald] Ryan Long, who joined GBI after leaving the Lilburn PD in 2019.
While with the Lilburn PD in 2018, Long shot at a vehicle driven by someone named Jesse Allen.
We can’t find any news reporting about this shooting anywhere.
“Use of deadly force” language in incident paperwork implies Long possibly killed this person, but we cannot confirm.
