1/ .@optimismFND's 10th grants cycle is coming to a close.

With a number of incentivized Layer-2 (L2) applications like @GMX_IO, @VelodromeFi, and others turning out to be winners, let's examine the current crop to see what applications and builders are making waves.🧵
2/ @optimismFND grants cycles are separated into two categories: Growth Experiments and Builders.

Growth Experiments focus on on-chain applications.

While the Builders section consists of teams and solo devs creating developer tooling.
3/ One of the twelve protocols selected as a finalist in the Growth Experiments category was @KyberNetwork's #KyberSwap.

KyberSwap has seen its @optimismFND-based volumes grow ~9x YTD, enough to earn the #3 spot for @optimismFND DEXs by transaction volume.
4/ But is $500K in incentives enough to close the gap between #Kyberswap at #3, @VelodromeFi, and @Uniswap?

The 7-day volume gap between Velodrome ($194.3M) and Uniswap ($238.6M) on @optimismFND sets a positive precedent for Kyberswap's growth potential.
5/ On the Builder side, @project_shutter is looking to bring transaction privacy to the @optimismFND Stack via a shielded mempool implementation.

The implementation aims to increase base layer neutrality, promote fair prices on DeFi protocols, and add censorship resistance.
6/ For a complete look at the finalists for @optimismFND's 10th grants cycle, including deep dives into the protocols and teams within the growth experiment and builder categories, check out the full Pro report from @kelxyz_.

1/ Most DAOs are highly fragmented and inefficient.

The current lack of standardization requires DAOs to reconcile data across each tool utilized in their tool stack.

The answer: the blockchain, through the integration of identity and social graphs.🧵 Image
2/ A glaring blind spot of current DAO operations is its ability to measure impact.

The incompatibility of the current DAO stack results in a fractured contributor identity, observed across four identity primitives: wallets, identity tokens, reputation tokens, and attestations. Image
3/ Together, these primitives form an on-chain identity stack and create new opportunities for contributors to receive recognition and status and to express their authority.

DAOs can leverage this data layer, allowing for a more granular analysis of operations and compensation. Image

1/ Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) was shut down this past Friday, impacting @circle's $USDC, which held approximately $3.3B of its cash reserves with SVB.

What happened to Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), @circle's $USDC, and what are the implications on DeFi?🧵 Image
2/ As stated, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) was shut down this past Friday due to poor management of duration risk and rising interest rates.

As a result, @coinbase was forced to pause $USDC to $USD conversions as the price of USDC deviated from the $1.00 peg.
3/ Following redemption assurances from @circle and an announcement from the Government that all SVB depositors would be made whole, $USDC recovered to $0.99.

But how will the aftershock affect stablecoin supply, liquidity, leverage, and liquidations? Image

1/ The tradeoff of public blockchains is the consequent lack of privacy.

@RAILGUN_Project enters the space as an on-chain privacy solution that utilizes zero-knowledge (ZK) cryptography to enable private asset storage, transactions, and smart contract calls across base layers.🧵
2/ How does @RAILGUN_Project work?

To use RAILGUN, users must first “shield” their assets.

Users send assets to their public RAILGUN 0x address where they can then funnel said assets to RAILGUN’s privacy pool making their particular tokens unidentifiable.
3/ To transact within the RAILGUN Privacy System, users broadcast encrypted information paying fees to a Relayer, who acts as the public intermediary by submitting transactions to the underlying blockchain.

@RAILGUN_Project efficacy depends on the total value held in the system.

1/ As crypto continues through the bear market, #Bitcoin's identity as an inflation hedge, store of value, and a maturing institutional asset have wavered.

However, a new narrative has emerged through a feature made possible following the #SegWit and #Taproot upgrades. 👀🧵 Image
2/ Soft-fork upgrade Segregated Witness (SegWit) made it easier and cheaper to store large amounts of data, while Taproot removed the constraints on the amount of data that could be included in $BTC transactions.
3/ A new NFT protocol built on top of #Bitcoin emerged from this combination, called #Ordinals.

In just under three months, there have been over 342,000 inscriptions posted on Bitcoin, comprising images, text, videos, applications, audio, and models. Image

1/ The current scientific research landscape often prioritizes reputation at the expense of transparency and innovation.

Enter the decentralized science (DeSci), an approach aimed at fostering open collaboration and scientific progress.🧵
2/ What's wrong with the current scientific research ecosystem?

Problems can be broken into three pillars:

+Centralized Decision-Making and Funding
+Poor Methodology and Data Transparency
+Unincentivized Review and Gate-Kept Publishing
3/ Open Science sought to resolve these issues with its commitment to open and FAIR data, manuscripts, and collaboration.

While a step in the right direction, additional coordination, incentivization, and verification tools are needed to bring in the next wave of open research.

1/ Known for its experiments in game theory and incentives design, @OlympusDAO is shifting its focus to the stability and adoption of $OHM.

Despite early initiatives in 2023 aimed at this focus, the adoption of $OHM has suffered at the expense of its fixed 7.35% staking rate.🧵
2/ One of the aforementioned initiatives aimed at creating stability was @OlympusDAO's introduction of a Range-Bound Stability (RBS) system.

The RBS system works by guiding market participants with economic incentives.
3/ While the RBS system checked the stability box, $OHM’s current staking rate of 7.35% fails to account for the market’s actual demand.

As a result, it has resulted in the slow dilution of OHM’s liquid backing.
