On March 7, a Hindu mob of about two dozen people lynched a Muslim man in front of a mosque in Rasulpur, Chhapra. I travelled 1000 kilometres to cover this incident in Bihar. I've been in Chhapra and Siwan for the past three days. +
I attempted to speak with the SHO of the Rasulpur, Chhapra police station as well as the Chhapra SP, but neither responded. Today, the SP hung my call up twice, the third day after I called, stating that he was busy.
In this case, three people have been arrested, but no further+
action has been taken against the others. The Muslims in Rasulpur, where this crime occurred, are scared.
Locals alleged that the police barred the Muslims in the village where the incident occurred from making any statements and forced them to sign a document in an effort to+
portray the situation as an accident from the outset.
I visited the Rasulpur village of Jogia, where this tragedy took place. Because Muslims are a minority in the area, they are afraid to speak up in front of the camera.
According to one witness, the Hindu mob chased Naseeb+
Qureshi and beat him mercilessly with clubs, rods, and sharp objects in an attempt to break his arm. As Naseeb's condition deteriorated, one of them phoned the police and reported that an accident had occurred. +
@bihar_police should explain why the action has been so lackadaisical up to this point. Why haven't the other accused been arrested yet? When will @NitishKumar and @yadavtejashwi government pay the family compensation?
@SaranPolice When will you arrest the rest of the accused?

Nobody is doing a favour by covering a story, whether it's hate crime or other crime. As a journalist, it's our job to cover stories and highlight the wrong. However, there's a difference when a freelance journalist with a limited or no resources, and journalists who are +
supported by bigger org cover it. A freelance journalist has no safety net around them, they cover their travel expenses, they have zero resources at hand, they are not paid by anyone. When a journalist with no backing brings out a story in public, they do it to highlight the+
wrong done. when a journalist from a bigger org does it, they already have most of the things at hand. Resources, safety, and guarantee. As freelancer I have been detained by police and beaten by mob no bigger publication came to help me, unlike for those who already work for+
