Sunak warned of Tory small boats revolt, as plan likened to Trump’s ‘caging of children’
Caroline Nokes, MP for Romsey and Southampton North launched a fresh attack on the government’s asylum legislation – likening it to Donald Trump’s “caging of children” 1/
Although the Bill passed its second reading by 312 votes to 250 on Monday night – with the majority of Tory MPs backing it, some Tory moderates are discussing how best to amend the Bill at the next stage – 2/ independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…
focusing on creating stronger protections on child detention & modern slavery,
- Former Tory Justice Secretary Robert Buckland made it clear that the Bill would need “further work.” He said the government “risks looking guilty of ineffective authoritarianism.”

Meanwhile, right-wing Tory MPs are also understood to be drawing up plans to further toughen the Bill...with an amendment to pull the UK out of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR). It is believed they have as many as 40 MPs ready to back the radical move.
4/
Despite the fact that the moderates believe dozens of MP will support greater protections for children and trafficking victims, we mustn’t forget how inhumane this Bill is in it’s entirety. We must #StopTheBill and keep fighting for the rights of refugees. ✊✊✊

In 2020, Keir Starmer appointed Martin Forde QC, to investigate the leaked Labour report. The #FordeReport revealed an alarming hierarchy of racism within the party, yet Labour have shamefully chosen to ignore his significant findings.

Despite commissioning one of Britain's leading Black QCs, his damning report was studiously swept under the carpet as Labour have been silent on this ever since.

Discussions with anyone right-leaning seem to always have them accuse PoC of playing victim.
This is just another way to shut down the debate around Britain’s involvement in the impoverishment of Black and Brown people historically, and how it continues to marginalise PoC.
2/
While it’s ok for us to remember British triumphs, Black and Brown people are continually told to forget Britain's past atrocities and move on, because one thing this country excels at is mass denial and anyone challenging this is said to be trying to change history.

Unscrupulous legalities and racist political policy resulted in #ShamimaBegum losing the appeal to have her citizenship reinstated. The ultimate reason being that the ex-Home Secretary having declared her ‘a threat to national security’...
HOWEVER... 1/
It does seem to be the height of hypocrisy to declare Ms Begum a threat to national security when the UK and other Western countries have been fuelling the fire in, arming, and training Al-Qaida terrorists FOR YEARS.
