The first person to suffer from #Islamotrauma was Aisha. Aisha was just six years old when she was married off to a 53 yr old man. Read below as she exclaims:
“I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women.”
She was right then and she is still right today.
Muslim women are the only women who are forced to endure being beaten by their husbands because Allah sanctioned it in the Quran.
Muslim women are the only women forced to endure being raped by their husbands because it is sanctioned in Hadith.
Other women can appeal to their families, the authorities, where can Muslim women go? Who can they appeal to that will override Islamic scriptures? Who will protect her from the edicts of a 1400 year old religion? Who will protect her from the almighty Allah?
This was my life. I too was forced to be beaten and raped. I was his property. His tilth, as per the Quran. If I complained then I was the bad person because I dared disagree w the word of the almighty. Who was I to think my feelings, my dignity, my humanity, were more important?
At the end of the day, we are seen as lesser than, with a deficient mind. Half of a man. So how could we dare complain anyway? It’d be like a slave complaining about a toxic work environment.
A friend was telling me about her mother, on her deathbed, finally accepting a cigarette from her sister: Had I known my life would have ended like this, I would have said yes a lot sooner. And I’d have said no too. No to marrying him. No to being his slave. No to wasting my life.
As she was telling me she was crying and I was crying. Both of us were in miserable marriages before we had the irrational and dangerous bravery to leave. We know how she was feeling. We know how close we were to feeling the same way on our deathbeds.
Thankfully we both got out and we are both married to wonderful men today who adore us unconditionally. We walked through raging fires to get here. But we can’t rest. We are haunted by those who never made it. She’ll be joining me soon on #ForgottenFeminists 🤍
I’m not one to debate ppl on their beliefs. Believe what you want. Not my business. You’ll only hear from me if your beliefs cause ppl harm. But I inadvertently ended up in my first ‘debate’ w a Muslim. Luckily it was @HatemNYC, so no death threats ensued!
Hatem learned about me through you, @fallinlovia so I have you to thank for this new opportunity ☺️
I think people need to stop being so concerned about protecting Islam from criticism and put that energy into worrying about protecting real human children instead.
“How can I react? I believe that I could study and change my future or bring the light to my life but they destroyed it. They destroyed the only bridge that could connect me with my future," one female university student told the BBC
I said it before and I will say it again and again and again: Where Islam presides, women suffer.
Iranians never wanted an Islamic Republic. I need ppl to know this. It was a left wing revolution that allied w Islamists. Once they won, the Islamists killed the socialist/communist leaders, hijacked the revolution, and called it Islamic. Iranians have been fighting since day 1.
I keep hearing things like-they wanted this. They‘ve been quiet for 43 yrs. No and no. They were not quiet, you just weren’t listening. What you’re seeing today is the last straw-after seeing their friends, families and heroes tortured and killed for so long. #IranRevolution2022
From the first day that mandatory hijab was announced, women have been fighting. They protested in the streets as they are today. Women were imprisoned, as they are today. Women were killed, as they are today. None of this is new. It’s just new to you.
There’s a lot to admire about #Iranian people, but the greatest by far (in my opinion) is how they managed to maintain their Persian culture, language, food, holidays etc despite being invaded by Muslims. The rest of us just started calling ourselves Arab and forgot who we were.
It was a moment of shock really when I found out Egyptians weren’t Arab. Same w Moroccans, Tunisians, Algerians etc. We were colonized by Arabs and lost our Amazigh, Berber, etc cultures. Even some Pakistanis and Somalis think they’re Arab. Really sad.
A lot of Muslims are mad at the truth-so I will add some more. I did my 23 and Me and saw that I have a significant amount of Spanish in my DNA. Most likely it was a poor woman who was raped by Muslim invaders. Most ppl who are Muslim today have family who were raped by Muslims.
When I tell you it’s a cult. When I tell you it’s like the mafia. This is what I mean. A mother threatens to kill her daughter over a piece of cloth, and I am the shameful one for mentioning it. They want us to keep silent and hide the tyranny even as our throats are being split.
I spoke to a woman in Jordan whose father threw her out a window and her family convinced her to tell the doctors she fell so that her father wouldn’t be in trouble.
And she did.
This is how we are taught to deny our agency. This is how we are taught that we are subordinate things. This is how we are seen and this is how we, in turn, see ourselves. We minimize and diminish ourselves to uphold the family honor and hide the dirty laundry at all costs.
