at lz's teary glance, wy nods "means you're wy's number one friend. zhanzhan my best friend"

babyji hiccups "really?"

"of course! we even have matching rabbit backpacks!" she shouts, wanting zhanzhan to not cry anymore

wy squeals in happiness "yayy! happy birthday, zhanzhan!"

"thank you, yingying. i luv it" lz rubs her finger over the necklace

"mama, help put it on?"

mama lan fastens the necklace, taking a step back and declaring "pretty"

both children nod

wy gasps "wait! the cake!"

wy runs over to her a-niang, who's sat on the sofa, watching them with a soft smile

wy searches until she finds the homemade cake

"for zhanzhan. i bake it!" she tells her proudly

lz smiles as she takes a big bite of cake. then forces herself to finish the rest

thankfully wy only gave her a small slice. her lips and tongue are burning, her nose running

"thank you, yingyiny makes the best cakes. you eat some now"

wy nods "chilli cake is the best!"
