Did racism cause slavery?
No.

White on white slavery and black on black slavery existed for 1000s of years before America.
Most slave masters and slaves were of the same race.
Our unique Constitution allowed us to put an end to slavery in the US.
Slavery has been justified on basis of race, but most slave masters & slaves in history were of same race.
People of African descent have enslaved members of their own race. African slave traders captured & sold rival tribe members. African slave owners held Africans as slaves.
Slavery still exists in many parts of the world, including Africa & Asia.

In Africa, slavery takes many forms, including forced labor, debt bondage, & human trafficking. Many people in Africa are forced to work in dangerous & exploitative conditions, often for little or no pay.
