People who seek abortions seek them for a reason. In many cases those reasons include things like economic concerns and not intending to get pregnant in the first place. We don’t do enough to address these reasons, which increase the demand for abortion.
It is ironic that many of the states that proudly proclaim themselves to be the most pro-life also happen to be statistically the worst places to be a newborn.
We need to focus on human life on both sides of the birth event. Not just before birth.
The attitude towards human life can’t be indifference on either side of the birth event.
In the womb, the human is not just a “blob of cells.” It is a human at an early stage of development.
And after the baby leaves the womb, the baby’s welfare can’t be “not my concern.”
Babies need to eat. They need health care. ESPECIALLY if they’re born premature.
Parents who already have children often need child care so that they can work and provide for their families.
Moms need to know that they won’t lose their jobs because they’re pregnant.
Yeah, in a perfect world, everybody would become pregnant only when they intended to and everybody would have enough resources to take care of their vulnerable newborns.
But we don’t live in a perfect world.
And when people can’t do all these things, somebody needs to help out.
People can make various judgements about decisions that parents make.
But you know who’s not to blame for them? The babies!
And either we put as much energy into being concerned about these babies after birth as we say we are before birth.
Or else we’re just saying “it’s not my concern what happens after birth.” Which is just a more elegant way of saying “I don’t care.”
The sanctity of human life does not begin at birth. And it doesn’t end at birth either.
Life is precious. And it costs money and support.

There are MORE THAN 51 MILLION MORE ADULTS living in the 223 counties that are home to a VAP of more than 250,000 than there are in the 2,889 counties that are home to fewer than 250,000 adults.
That’s why the county maps look so red but yet Trump got a lot fewer votes.
Trump won the hearts and souls of the places in America that are less populated.
But he bombed out in the places in America where a lot of people live. Both in the cities and in most of the nearby suburbs.
On the day of the #WacoRally, I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone listening to it that Donald Trump is continuing to lie about one very central fact.
Trump did, in fact, LOSE the 2020 Presidential Election. It was not “stolen” or “rigged.” Trump LOST. #TrumpRally
How people who voted for Trump in 2020 answered these questions about politicians and hush money from the latest Economist/YouGov poll: docs.cdn.yougov.com/ni3jnt30r2/eco…
Q41) “Do you think it is or is not a crime for a candidate for elected office to pay someone to remain silent about an issue that may affect the outcome of an election?”
55% of Trump voters, the majority, answered “it is a crime.”
Q42) “Do you think it is or is not a crime for a candidate to fail to report spending campaign money on payments to keep someone silent about an issue that may affect the outcome of an election?”
62% of Trump voters, the majority, answered “it is a crime.”
As some of you are planning to put yourself in jeapardy for Trump’s sake, let’s remember what happened the last time he asked you to help him out of a jam he created.
1) A lot of you went to jail. 2) And he just went back to the golf course.
He’s not going to help you get a job now that some of you have convictions on your record for helping him last time.
He’s not going to do anything for you that costs him anything.
Yes, he spouts his usual BS trying to make the people he tricked into committing crimes for him into some kind of heroes. That doesn’t cost him anything. Talk is cheap. He’ll blow smoke up your rear all day long.
There are a LOT of people in this country who were brought up to not be racists. And there are also a lot of former racists whose hearts have sincerely been changed.
But …
There are also some people who hid their racist attitudes as long as racism was out of style.
But as soon as a guy like Trump came around and made people no longer feel ashamed to show their ignorance, they took out their old attitudes like old clothes which came back into vogue
I find the hypocrisy and phoniness vomit-inducing …
The subset of people who talked about racial healing and loving all God’s children when those were the things that everybody in polite society said. But who went straight-up Christian Nationalist now.
Just because like five different people have responded with “but he was acquitted,” let me point this out:
The fact that Edwards was acquitted (on one count, hung jury on the others) doesn’t mean that the government didn’t indict and prosecute him. They did.
Edwards used campaign donations to try to hide his extramarital affair. And he was prosecuted for it. In his case, he actually could have done 30 years had he been convicted.
