boringest booth ever no pics
we did get a transphobe. He shouted at me that I can not even tell him what a foimoile is and then shouted at the indistinguishable Liberal and Labor dudes that they could not tell him what a foimoile or a moile is either.
then the Liberal dude put on a wide eyed act and said does anyone know what that was about so I explained that the transphobic voter had bought what the Liberal Party candidate selected by Morrison and Perrottet for Warringah last year was selling and surely he remembered.
obviously that went down well with all the volunteers who had been interacting with the Liberal Party spruiker like he is a reasonable person and people who join the Liberal Party communicate in good faith.
I did notice a big uptick in voters who took no HTVs. In years past there were more people who took all the HTVs now I think there are more who take none. Voters who take one HTV - clearly signalling their No. 1 to the volunteers - seems about the same.
hearing that corporate media once again overstated both Coalition electoral standing and closeness of result. Both Coalition parties are turning into rumps despite massive effort from the political class.
eg both ABC Sydney radio election coverage hosts just referred to Trent Zimmerman as a “victim of the teal wave”. He is a former Liberal Party backbencher and candidate who was not re-elected by voters in the seat where he was standing.
completely and deliberately or cluelessly wrong about everything so the political class will now curate dominant voices to explain that the result of actual voters voting differs from year-round coverage created and amplified by the political class. Thanks for that!
lets not forget that corporate media did not call the federal 2019 result. They campaigned for the result we got, but they did not call it.
all Coalition politicians are good faith operators who work hard/can learn on the job but there just happens to be these specific local issues causing voters to not vote for them - political journalism, abridged.
for the record, I told anyone who asked that we are getting a change of government. Living under state and federal coalition governments for this decade of my childrens teen-to-adult lives is horrendous. But also a change of government used to mean real material difference.
every media outlet all month: super close. The fourth Liberal Party premier in as many terms is SUCH a good bloke.
Antony Green on election night: I am confidently predicting that Labor will form government.
SO *CLOSE* IT IS BEING CALLED AT 8PM ON ELECTION NIGHT I guess all the overpaid operatives who made knife edge claims will keep failing up.
there was a redistribution, there was a flood, there is an its time factor, its a bellwether, there was a bridge, a bus route, a dam, a thing. So rough when tories get tripped by what voters care about in an election.
apparently people are not joining political parties. Who knew. A decades-long trend that is being trotted out tonight by corporate media to “explain” its failed campaign to prop up and reinstall Coalition politicians to power.
candidate for the Liberal Party in Manly telling ABC radio that teals are bad and teals should feel bad to *explain* why he lost a huge number of votes and formerly safe margin to the independent candidate, who the Liberal candidate calls a teal.
“the evil Labor Party” - glover, chuckling.
he was JOKING when he called the Labor Party evil, people. Just because such obviously hilarious thoughts are never said out loud about tories. Sheesh. Take a JOKE mate.
the thing about joking is it has to be funny to qualify.
what do you say about “what’s happened” - Glover inviting a Liberal Party politician to “explain” how we could have got to this election night result of majority Labor government.
oh it was Speakman. The Liberal Party Attorney General who expanded police power over criminalisation by exploiting victims of male violence.
lets cut to the soon to be ex-Treasurer. Kean leans into incumbency, which as everybody knows is an advantage until it is not.
lmao Willoughby. Remember how corporate media incessantly told us how much “people” - assuming SW Sydney voters are not people I guess - like Berejiklian when Perrottett and his factional allies (which they called ICAC) took her out.
NO CHANCE OF FORMING GOVERNMENT - Green. He is talking about the Coalition, obviously.
“Terrigal is a total shock. Out of the blue” - okay what explains this shocking Liberal Party failure in Terrigal? Labor has a strong ground game. Oh I see. So nothing has changed except media campaigns for the Coalition have been exhausted beyond all the lies.
ahaha the Nationals retaining seats “has made it hard for the Liberals”. Because nothing is more important than centering Coalition politicians.
how does it feel handing the baby over to someone else? - actual ABC radio host to outgoing Nationals Party minister on losing power.
more its time excuses from Coalition politicians. More like TimesUp amirite.
Mike Baird, Bruce Baird, Sarah McDonald and Richard Glover telling ABC radio audiences that Perrottet - whose corrupted governance is not in dispute - had a terrible tuff time poor thing he “fought this battle with two hands tied behind his back” wtf is he jesus now.
breaking coverage here from a Liberal Party politician saying the Liberal Party might be complete garbage when it comes to the womenz no shit Sherlock.
hearing women exist, and vote. Hearing multiple speculative hypotheses about the Liberal Party losing seats. Not hearing anyone connect women voters to Liberal Party losses and Liberal Party transphobia.
so quick to give a platform to transphobic rhetoric and so reluctant to concede that transphobia is rejected by voters.
SEE YA DOM👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼
ah yes that time Perrottet wrecked christmas by forcing everyone out of pandemic precautions and testing clinics were closed without notice so none of us could responsibly go anywhere coz freedom.
good. Fuck off. He thanks Epping but he came thru my electorate of Hawkesbury in his career path to Premier, not to “serve” our area in any capacity whatsoever and for no other reason than his career.
media bothsidesing normalises the poison that is neoliberal values and is also fucking nauseating pass it on.
media operatives who apparently believe that politicians say things that are not strategised comms bless.
they are politicians my mates. He was introduced by Anthony Albanese. If this change of government in NSW means any material difference on climate, on poverty, on racism, on carceral logic, I will be very and pleasantly surprised.
the major party politicians were all so nice - white proverb.
complete absence of mongrel means neoliberal orthodoxy prevails. Sorry.
I will never forget the election Perrottet won Hawkesbury. It was the year Mike Baird destroyed TAFE and gave womens shelters built by feminists to corporate religion.
impossible to picture Speers or any of the #Insiders crew standing for 10 hours at a booth out of commitment to something better. Political journalism shores up tory power and improves nothing while purporting to explain us to ourselves.

good morning☀️happy Sunday! Today on #Insiders are ABC referendum corro Dan Bourchier, 9fax (AFR) columnist Jennifer Hewett and 9fax (smh/Age) senior politics corro David Crowe. The interview is with federal Attorney General Mark Dreyfus. Image
reminder - TO LABOR - that the smh editorialised for Perottet, all corporate media outlets campaigned for the Coalition, and John Howard was exhumed as usual.
opening spiel: Chris Minns wins. Yet another defeat for the Liberals. Continental red-out. Speers shoe-horns a “Peter Dutton is being warned” into the spiel but not who is doing this warning. Perhaps it is Bevan. #Insiders

hearing the herald has gone full Bevan to back the forced birther.
relatively unusual to support marriage equality and support forced birth. Bevan is a special kind of conservative.
old enough to remember when changing leaders was reason enough for corporate media to campaign against Labor governments.

good morning☀️happy Sunday! Today on #Insiders are ABC 730 senior politics corro Laura Tingle, 9fax (smh/Age) international editor Peter Hartcher and murdoch foreign editor Greg Sheridan. The interview is with deputy PM and defence minister Richard Marles.
opening spiel: defending Australia, helping the US, is China a threat. #Insiders
we will not get our first nuclear submarine for a decade? A few decades? Speers repeats “defend strike” sloganeering, repeats the job spruiking from the government. Coalition warmongering is “bipartisanship” while facts from Keating are Labor disunity. #Insiders

Queensland parliament overrides Queensland human rights Act to accelerate criminalisation and incarceration of children.

theguardian.com/australia-news…
increasing incarceration necessarily causes a net increase in violence because incarceration is itself extremely violent. These people are literally claiming that more violence = more community safety.
yet another way police deliberately target and criminalise Black children and do everything in their massive police power to violently destroy kids futures. NSW police do the same with the Suspect Target Management Program (STMP).

“police say they issued a caution under the Young Offenders Act” to the teen who was racist at Latrell Mitchell - ABC radio news.
fascinated to know the charge. A NSW police caution requires people under 18 years old to “make admissions” in a police station. The police cautioning *process* - ie without judicial oversight - takes the child/teen from “presumptive innocent” to “young offender” status.
not everyday NSW police charge a suspect with offensive language for saying racist things. Or not to my knowledge. If that was the charge.
