We haven’t found the smoking gun yet, but it sure as hell looks like ExxonMobil was involved in a massive hacking operation to silence their critics (including me).
The Wall Street Journal tells the wild story in this bombshell of a piece. wsj.com/articles/massi…
Prosecutors haven’t yet found a clear line connecting Exxon to the hacking operation, but it’s really the only plausible explanation for why a hacker-for-hire would come after us and leak an email that was at the center of Exxon’s legal strategy on #ExxonKnew.
If it *does* emerge that Exxon or one of their front groups was behind the attack, they’re going to be facing felony level charges and it will be a MAJOR scandal.
We’ve always know that Exxon and their fossil fuel cronies will stop at nothing to try and silence and intimidate anyone who takes them on. But we aren’t scared and I know millions of you aren’t either.
They knew. They lied. Make them pay.
p.s. At least one person would be impressed if it turned out Exxon hired the hackers.

BREAKING: The PR firm hired by Egypt for COP27 is none other than Hill+Knowlton, who worked with Big Tobacco and currently runs the “Oil & Gas Climate Initiative,” an industry front group.
WOW! In his General Assembly speech, the UN Secretary General just *blasted* fossil fuel industry enablers -- calling out the PR and advertising industry for the first time!
“Our world is addicted to fossil fuels. It’s time for an intervention."
Here's an excerpt 🧵
“Our world is addicted to fossil fuels. It’s time for an intervention.
We need to hold fossil fuel companies and their enablers to account.
"That includes the banks, private equity, asset managers and other financial institutions that continue to invest and underwrite carbon pollution.
And it includes the massive public relations machine raking in billions to shield the fossil fuel industry from scrutiny.
This is a *HUGE* freaking deal: Congress has obtained documents that show Big Oil companies actively lying about their climate commitments and coordinating to downplay their support for the Paris Agreement.
There are so many wild parts to this article it's hard to track all of them.
First, a revelation that Exxon pressed an industry trade group to remove any mention of the Paris Agreement from a policy document. Exxon says it supports Paris -- but clearly not.
Next up: Shell created talking points for its US president that said that the company's commitment to net zero has "nothing to do with our business plans." 🤯
What does it have to do with, then? Oh yeah: lying to the public.
The GOP permitting bill that Sen. Capito just introduced is a dumpster fire of climate denial and industry giveaways that will only deepen our dependence on the fossil fuels that are destroying our climate.
You know anything that starts with "Codifies the Trump Administration's...." is going to be a disaster.
In this case, the GOP is trying to follow through on Trump's attempts to gut the National Environmental Protection Act, the "magna carta" of environmental law.
It begins with attacks on the Clean Water Act and other water protections. Republican's think it's a real bummer that corporations can't dump toxic waste, coal ash, and fracking fluids into our streams and rivers.
Also on Tuesday morning, @RepRaskin is hosting a hearing on how the fossil fuel industry goes after climate defenders with SLAPP suits and other forms of legal intimidation. This is a *huge* problem and it's critical to see Congress investigating it.
