The problem with poking the bear, of course, is the bear and its giant claws. To complicate things, most of this particular bear is invisible.

You can see the bear’s face, but its claws are hidden until they need to be used. They can come from anywhere. I found out the hard way.
For 974 days now if I expose something about the Flynns, to poke the bear’s face, from somewhere behind me I get a bunch of claws in the back.

Once this happens enough, you figure those claws belong to the bear. And, almost always, on further inspection, they do.

If I saw this janky-ass hard-coded trash in a two-week old startup I would tell them they need adult supervision.

For the non-programmers, ‘*’ means “times” and the words with “_” in between are variables calculated per tweet.

So, the numbers before the variables are permanent until someone changes the code directly.

This is comically bad architecture. Amateur hour, at best.
The hard coded numbers being multiplied by the variables are the key factors in deciding whether a tweet is going to be successful or not.

Instead of:
27*is_replied

You would want:
reply_factor*is_replied

That way you can adjust ‘reply_factor’ and test it without a build.
