The first tentpole principle of my campaign to be elected as #MP of #Gravesham is that I will NOT take £84k - I'll take the salary of a qualified nurse, on a general surgery ward, with five years experience. Which is what I think ALL MPs should be paid.

The second tentpole principle is that I will NOT take any additional jobs, other than MP. Representing all of my constituents will be my highest priority, and I don't see how part-time MPS with second, third, fourth, fifth jobs can reasonably claim to do that. 2/x

The third principle is that I will NOT benefit from the subsidised bars and restaurants which #MP use in the Palace of Westminster. If I use one, I will deposit the amount of subsidy from out of my own pocket into a fund, which will be used to support #Gravesham causes. 3/x

And since the amount of expenses claimed by #MembersOfParliament are obscene (and in many cases criminally fraudulent) I will claim ZERO expenses during my time as #MP for #Gravesham, except for those specifically approved by the voters of Gravesham. 4/x

For additrional staff, e.g. for constituency office or Westminster support, they will be paid no more than I, and the first two can be paid for by the portion of my MP's salary that I won't take. So by my claculation that's an MP and two support staff, all working full-time. 5/x

None of us will benefit from the subsidised gin-palaces of the Palace of Westminster. None of us will be padding our expenses. The only expenses we will claim are those approved by the voters of #Gravesham. And they won't include heating for my horses stabling, @nadhimzahawi 6/x

@nadhimzahawi It is my intention to stand as an independent #MP, because there is NO political party that agrees with both the paramount political principle on which I am standing, i.e. Electoral Reform as the highest priority, in order to prevent another #ToryScum criminal orgy... 7/x

... and the personal principles on which I am standing, outlined at the top of this tweet thread. Do I expect ANY current #MPs to agree to copy my personal principles? Nope! Because they've grown used to lining their pockets at taxpayers' expense, with VERY few exceptions. 8/x

So, are there any OTHER like-minded people out there, who sense the need for change, see that #FirstPastThePost is the system that ensures that ONLY #ConSelfServative and #Labour get to form a Government, usually without even taking a majority of the vote. As in 2019. 9/x
