City Power Hursthill Service Delivery Centre (SDC) has commended the business
community of Amalgam who have gone out of their way to assist in safeguarding critical electricity infrastructure.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD Hursthill SDC held a Customer Day with the local business forum today, to address some of their most pressing service delivery concerns - as part of a broader client engagement programme.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD City Power used this opportunity to also highlight the need for revenue
collection - which is key for Infrastructure development, maintenance, and continued
provision of uninterrupted power supply.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD The organisation's financial difficulties are common knowledge now. This financial constraint, exarcebated by loadshedding, makes it extremely challenging to continue providing reliable and secure power supply.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD City Power, through its SDCs including Hursthill, has embarked on a thoroughgoing engagement drive to improve customer experience, with the hope that it will translate into increased revenue collection.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD Out of over R10-billion owed to City Power, R1.2billion is in the pockets of defaulting and non-paying customers in Hursthill. Business owners from Amalgam and surrounds owe around R16-million.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD During the meeting, business owners raised a number of concerns such as prolonged
outages, especially during this time of loadshedding, which negatively impact their operations.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD Another point which they raised, much to the appreciation of City Power, was their active involvement in patrolling and securing our network and other essential electricity infrastructure.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD The business community expressed readiness to work with the entity through its programme to partner with communities to address infrastructure theft & vandalism. They requested the repair of streetlights which would increase visibility and deter criminals from theft & vandalism.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD Responding to their remarks, the General Manager for Hursthill SDC, Mr Noel Maso made a commitment that there will be increased support, including expediting the installation of
lights along the network line.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD "We truly appreciate the valuable contribution you have made during this session. We will formulate programmes to swiftly and sufficiently respond to your concerns.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD Our team is always ready to address any challenge you may have, be it over billing problems, tarrifs, or arrangements for payments of debt."

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD "I cannot overemphasise the fact that as an organisation, we cannot exist without you, as our valuable customers," he added.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD Members of the local business forum expressed keen interest and willingness to work with City Power to minimise power outages which have bad financial implications for both parties.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD City Power is rolling out similar customer engagement programmes across the City to
improve the quality of customer service.Details of the next Customer Day across Hursthill and others SDCs will be communicated
in due course.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD We urge customers to avail themselves and take part in the process of shaping the kind of service they want from City Power. These programmes will be followed by a revenue collection drive.

@CityofJoburgZA @JoburgMPD Customers are urged to settle their accounts, or enter into an Agreement with the City, to avoid being disconnected.
