CITY POWER CONTRACTOR ARRESTED FOR SUSPECTED SABOTAGE

City Power CEO Ms Tshifularo Mashava welcomes the arrest of one of the contractors for sabotage and tampering with essential electricity infrastructure. The suspect was found inside City Power switching substation in the Roodepoort area with working equipment. It is not clear how he gained entry but his actions nearly killed some of City Power operators and technicians who were working on the network down stream from

Please note that we had a delay with some restorations and repairs since in the morning due to the System Operators being in a meeting at the Head Office since the morning. The meeting sought to ensure efficiency and quality in our work and that customers are serviced accordingly.

#Northriding 11 over sub perm 221 (block 8) tripped affecting parts of Bromhof and Sonneglans. Operators have isolated the fault at the first port.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused. ^DR While back feeding to restore the power supply from Randburg Sub (Block 14), the area went under load shedding. Operators will attend to the outage after restoring the power supply in Harley Sub.

Team is currently on site in Craighall, attending to an outage that was triggered by a blown switch. They are in the process sourcing material for repairs. ETR will be communicated once materials are delivered on site. we are aware that outages from the Parkhurst Substation and Industria Substation have have not yet been attended due to overstretched resources. As soon as the teams finalise restoring supply in Roosevelt and Craighall, they will move to Parkhurst and Industria - respectively.

The Mini Sub has been ordered, and the contractor was not able to collect all the materials for repairs. #Alexandra Substation Jabulani Crescent Distributor tripped due to to a cable fault. The test branch was not able to locate the fault.

City Power is glad to announce that power is back at Nancefield Substation. The widespread outage was caused by cable theft which happened during loadshedding in the early hours of Wednesday (12 April).^LP Power was not restored after loadshedding in a number of areas particularly Nancefield Industrial and some parts of Eldorado Park and Kliptown.
