So...I just watched episode 9 and holy shit, how did the writers take all of the intrigue and actual curiosity I had for this season and Ruby that they built up last episode, and just annihilate it in under 15 minutes?!

Let's just get the biggest piece of failure out of the way. So Ruby drunk the damn tea not to "ascend", but to literally end herself because she was so overwhelmed by life and the world, yet the story completely ignored this reality in favor of the ascension angle, and treats it>

as such. The gang aren't reflecting on how they failed to help Ruby or dealing with the grief of literally failing to keep their loved one from making the biggest mistake a person could do to themselves. No, instead, they look at the reincarnated paper people & herbologist and>

basically look at it as a fucking positive. Jaune even saying, he was keeping the paper people from becoming what they were meant to be. So what is the lesson here, "death is the final step to awaken to your true self"? What kind of backwards cult shit are we dealing with here?

Oh and that's not all, if the words of what's essentially the will of the tree and Ruby's actions are any hint, it seems like Ruby's going remake herself into the image of her mother to be "good enough". Yeah, because that's the best course of action for a person who's going>

through suicidal depression from life, just throw your old self away and become completely different. Screw talking to family and loved ones about your problems, who needs therapy and positive & secure emotional support or even fucking time to work through things, right?

And then there's Yang. I'm sorry I don't care how great my partner is physically or emotionally for me, but a hand to the cheek and forehead touching isn't going to calm me down from seeing my baby sibling/foster child kill themselves in front of me. 2nd worst sister in Remnant.

Honestly, the only consistently good thing about this episode-and even this season-is the damn cat, who shows that he is a really good surprise villain after revealing he killed Alex and still plans on making Ruby his vessel, not to mention his overall craftiness.

And if the spoilers I got for the final episode are indeed true, this season is just going to be one big let down. Seriously, can we just end this universe of RWBY with a cancellation and start this shit over from scratch, because I'm at the point where I'm starting to not care.
