Minorities are at a far higher risk of adverse outcomes from a SARS-CoV-2 infection than whites

When whites are aware of this discrepancy they are far less likely to support COVID mitigations and far less likely to be concerned about COVID in general

sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Raising the awareness of racial disparities in COVID outcomes therefore runs the risk of counter-intuitively reducing protections against infection & disease in minority populations

When whites learn they are at less risk than minorities, whites don't act

They just stop caring Image
Death rates from COVID are more than 2.5x higher in minorities than whites in the under 1 year old, 5-9year old, and 20-44 year old demographics

When organizations like #UrgencyOfNormal push to remove SARS2 transmission mitigations by insisting on in-person schooling and ImageImageImage
removing other proven transmission-reduction efforts (improved ventilation, proper masking, support for distancing, etc.) they are explicitly sending a message that the public policy agenda should favor the risks and needs of whites over others

That's White Supremacy Image
Retweet if you think that in a healthy democracy those holding the reins of political power should tailor public health responses in a pandemic to the needs of those most at risk, not those least at risk (themselves)

I'm seeing a lot of immunologists confuse the terms "learning" and "memory" here on twitter

They are not the same thing. Learning implies understanding. Memory does not

Your immune system does not learn to understand SARS-CoV-2. It just has memory of it.
There is a picture of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on my iPhone

My iPhone has a memory of the SARS-CoV-2 virus

It does not understand the SARS-CoV-2 virus any more than my immune system can understand the virus
Just as my iPhone can use its memory to do pattern matching (facial recognition), my immune system can use its memory to do pattern matching on viral proteins

In computer science we have something called "regular expressions." Regular expressions are expressions created to

How right-wing ideologues have used the pandemic to exploit, sicken and kill children to advance a radical reactionary agenda of institutional destruction and extreme deregulation -- including the elimination of child labor laws.

"At least three of the paper’s authors (Prasad, Krohnert, Hoeg) have long histories of being vehemently opposed to any form of protection against infection by the SARS2 pathogen in children."
"Instead advocating that the vascular BSL-3 pathogen should be allowed to rip freely through children as a way to create a prophylactic 'Focused Infection' barrier of so-called “herd immunity,” using children as a permanent viral reservoir."

"[The] paper’s conclusions are explicit disinformation deliberately manufactured to undermine collective public health measures in furtherance of a right-wing laissez-faire ideology that is intolerant of the democratic ideals characteristic of liberal democracies such as ours."
That's a summation of our response to the SSRN paper recently published by @VPrasadMDMPH @TracyBethHoeg @KelleyKga and Alyson Haslam

Ask yourself why people like @VPrasadMDMPH, @TracyBethHoeg, @MonicaGandhi9, @KellyKGA, @snorman1776, @justin_hart, @MartyMakary, @DrJBhattacharya, etc. intentionally use inaccurate pediatric COVID death counts that the CDC is clear undercount pediatric COVID deaths?
After all, they are all aware that the CDC has issued identical warnings about using death certificates to count either pediatric influenza or pediatric COVID deaths

That was rhetorical

The answer is they are terrible people who minimize suffering & death in children in order to live comfortable lives for themselves

If we had a functional media they would ask them this question instead of letting them get away with disinformation like this Image

Schools forbid first graders from singing Dolly Parton songs and fire teachers who teach about civil rights & Michelangelo

But some argue the real educational crisis now is fictional learning loss caused by online learning that ended two years ago

vice.com/en/article/ak3…
Here are the lyrics to the banned Dolly Parton song:

"Hey Miley
It's me, I'm in Nashville
I'm on my way to Dollywood, busy as you are
Can't get enough stuff to do, can't
But anyway, I'm excited about singing with you
So I'm just gonna turn my, CD player on with you singing
I'm gon' put this on a cassette
Sing along with it, and then I'll run you off a CD later
Oh, I'm so high tech
I got a flip phone, too
But anyhow, see what you think
And um, here I go

Come on

Living in a Rainbowland
Where everything goes as planned
And I smile
