What has always driven the creation of separate spaces & opportunities for women are the physiological differences + inherent sexual tension that differentiate us from (& render us vulnerable to) men.
... do not want their mothers, wives, & daughters to disrobe in front of other men illustrates this fundamental truth pretty well.
And that's why allowing men to claim entitlement to those separate spaces & opportunities is absurd on its face ...

Men's bodies - even bodies occupied by men who wish to be women - are still male.
And it's not just b/c they lack the (F) characteristics required for access.
It's that they possess the male characteristics (+ often hetero-sex drives) from which women seek protection...
3/5
Women's separate spaces & opportunities have never been predicated on "identity" & efforts to switch the paradigm expose a disregard for the safety, as well as the comfort & dignity, of women.
It's so obvious that I never imagined having to explain this to adults...

In short, the justification for female spaces and opportunities has *always* been about the material reality of our female bodies, immutable sex, and the threat male bodies *can* pose.
Identity is (or, in a sane world, 'should be') irrelevant to this conversation.

🧵 We live in a time when it’s far more materially, socially, & emotionally rewarding to be a mindless drone than a critical thinker.
Just like w/ Covid, the incentives all go one way & — also like w/ Covid — believing it’s coincidental requires suspension of disbelief…

To even see that there is an alternative to going along — that thinking for yourself and behaving in ways consistent with your principles, irrespective of what others are doing, is an option — requires self-awareness & character that is increasingly rare…

Science and higher ed used to be hubs for critical thinkers.
Unfortunately, profs & scientists have proven to be just as vulnerable to the modern hivemind — and the harsh consequences it imposes for dissent — as anyone else.
How long do you think until we see articles about how the ratio was driven by “hateful transphobes” instead of “advocates for safety and fairness in women’s sports”?
I’m guessing not even 24hr.
Or not. Now it’s changed to “you’ve been blocked.”
If they block everyone who called them out, their marketing dept isn’t going to have much to work with.
My kids tell me I’m a personality cross between Linda Belcher, Cordelia Chase from OG Buffy & Kristin Wiig — which is super-specific, but also surprisingly accurate. 😂
What pop culture character comparisons or amalgamations do you get or relate to? twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Argh. I hate editing because it gets rid of old replies.
We lost a Diane Chambers and a [Seinfeld x Dr House] to the move. ☹️
Alex/drunk Ron is still here, tho! 😅
So good.
I think the Cordelia Chase element mainly reflects my history as a high school cheerleader (which cracks them up) coupled with my unwavering commitment to low rise, bootcut jeans.
