Most Pakistani universities - and their leadership - consider themselves the ivory tower of academia with a serious disconnect with society.

They can be the backbone of #knowledge production, and should play a crucial role in shaping the future of our society.

Through research, teaching, and community engagement, they can generate new knowledge, disseminate it widely, and create a culture of innovation and creativity.

To achieve these goals, university leadership needs to take some fundamental steps.

Here they are:
Firstly, universities need to invest in research and development.

Research is the cornerstone of knowledge production, and universities must provide the necessary resources and infrastructure to support it.
University leadership should allocate sufficient funds to research programs, establish research centers and institutes, and hire talented researchers and scholars.

They should also foster interdisciplinary collaborations and partnerships with other institutions.
