Obnoxious lies by DeSantis: “They don’t want to have to pay the same taxes as everybody else, and they want to be able to control things without proper oversight.”

Disney pays the SAME % rate property taxes to Orange & Osceola County PLUS EXTRA taxes to #ReedyCreek district. /1
My deep dive last year describing what the #ReedyCreek Improvement District actually is. For the millionth time, it’s not a tax break, it’s not corporate welfare, it’s EXTRA TAXES #Disney pays AND they provide the services & don’t ask counties to do so mediaite.com/opinion/conser… /2
It is also a LIE that Disney is operating w/o oversight. The RCID building codes (the “Epcot Codes”) meet or exceed all state & federal requirements. Same with their environmental standards etc. FL legislature studied RCID in 2004 & gave glowing review. /3 mediaite.com/opinion/anothe…
The study found “RCID is subject to many federal and state regulations that would help ensure that it continues to meet its public purpose, regardless of primary landownership. This oversight, in addition to agreements that RCID has with the local governments…” /4
“…that have land within its jurisdiction, should discourage any departure from fulfillment of the objectives and purposes for which the district was established and provide protection against sudden and significant changes within district boundaries.” /5

For those who agree w/Desantis Disney is too “woke,” that’s a valid opinion to have! But 1) we don’t want gov’t retaliating for free speech & 2) these insanely extreme attacks by DeSantis have caused Disney to change ZERO content, so it’s both unconstitutional & ineffective. /7

Doing a quick scan of #DisneyvsDeSantis complaint and it should be immediately clear the Mouse has very smart lawyers. /1
This paragraph alone illustrates why no one should support DeSantis’ unconstitutional actions. It is fair & valid to criticize Disney for any reason you wish. But we do not want gov’t retaliating against any person, church, company, charity, or other group for their speech. /2
I’m short on time before I have to go on radio with @DanAbramsSXM so I skipped ahead to prayer for relief. This lawsuit is asking to knock down both last year’s bill that repealed Reedy Creek Improvement District & this year’s that gave DeSantis power to appoint board. /3

Absolutely ridiculous. They were sitting in a circle and singing. I don’t care what the cause or partisan allegiances are, Floridians should be able to peacefully assemble and protest at our Capitol.
Correction, they’re at city hall not the Capitol. This is still ridiculous imho. I personally helped organize AFP and tea party rallies in Tallahassee that were far more raucous than that group of people sitting in a circle and singing.
As a former Tallahassee resident I have to say it’s quite something to see so many TPD officers swarming to tackle the very scary women sitting &singing. Would’ve been nice if any of them had ever dealt w/the drug dealers who lurked around my old apt before they shot a guy.

Good for Erin Burnett for calling out Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) for calling her "young lady."

He then claims he meant it as a "compliment" because it's his first time on the "Clinton News Network."

"That, I will say, was a bit, in my opinion, rude," replies Burnett. /1
Here's the thing: every time a guy says "young lady" when they're accusing a woman of not knowing something, it is NEVER a compliment. It is ALWAYS intended to be derogatory and minimizing, to put the woman in her place, to get her to sit down and shut up. /2
Nehls' exact quote: "Listen, I don't know if you are aware, young lady, but I am also a member of the House Freedom Caucus."

He isn't trying to compliment her. He's lecturing her, suggesting she is an idiot or uninformed. /3

omg y’all I cannot stop laughing help can’t breathe but if this is how I go at least it was a trip…

So I got woken up a little bit ago by this LOUD AND HORRIFYING sound.
