Part 3, what wartime and martial law in CONUS is like for civilians.
In short, you thought COVID was bad and the Patriot Act draconian? We're going full bootstomp.
On the practical side, airports will probably be closed 9/11 style for at least the first day out west. Then flights and travel will be restricted, certainly internationally. Cancel your Hawaiian vacation.
Second, martial law in the US means the military can engage in police duties & subject civilians to court martials. This can only happen in places where the courts are non-functional b/c of war or insurrection. The Guard will be federalized so they won't have state police powers.
Second, state emergency regulations allow governors to become basically dictators and pass whatever restrictions they want. We survived through COVID, we know, but look for them to get extra stupid in a real shooting war. It'll probably be less annoying but more insidious.
But first, what powers do they have now? Federal law authorizing the military to run the show is sketchy. The military can, because it's the freaking military, kick people out and order them around in combat zones. They will.
Say in the Chinese SF raid scenario, will the Army cordon off an area and search it? Yep. Will they block the roads? Yep. Will they forcibly evacuate citizens? Probably. Did JBLM shut down I-5 because of a military need? Well, your commute from Tacoma to Seattle is gonna suck.
People will scream and shout because "there's no authority for them to do this!" and inevitably exactly that authority and worse will be included in whatever War Powers Act the uniparty in Congress passes. Heck, they might even repeal posse commitatus.
At the state level, the real effects will probably be pretty benign. Areas closed to the public (like say Malibu, the beaches near Pendleton in Oceanside, or San Diego). Maybe a lower speed limit or prohibitions on driving due to gas shortages.
We don't know exactly, but stuff can get stupid, as COVID showed us. I would bet on travel restrictions for wartime conservation, to prevent the movement of Chinese agents/commandoes, or some such BS. Expect large and weird closures for vague reasons.
Will we see internment camps? Nope, we probably won't even kick out Chinese nationals because that would be racist. China will laugh at us and continually exploit this during the whole war
You thought the PATRIOT Act was too much and the anti-TikTok RESTRICT Act went way too far? You ain't seen nothing yet. Whatever the deep state wants, they'll get. Congress will basically shred the rest of the 4th Amd. in the name of national cybersecurity.
What's worse is that all the people who freaked out b/c their Internet and phones didn't work for a couple of hours will be demanding that we #dosomething and secure cyberspace. Online privacy will be dead. Using VPNs or anonymous Twitter accounts will be terrorism or treason.
Here are some fun laws:
18 U.S. Code § 795-Photographing and sketching defense installations. Don't post that pic of the base front gate on IG! Letting the Chinese know that Burpelson AFB is at THREATCON Delta is letting China win.
18 USC § 2388-willfully obstructs the recruiting or enlistment service of the United States. Did you hold an anti-war protest or tweet that people shouldn't join the military to just go and die in a pointless war against China? Federal crime
Full-throat crackdown in the name of stopping China will come. It'll be the totalitarian's dream.

Pt. 4 (the last one), what will a war with China be like for the average American?
In short, it's the end of the dollar and the American economy. We as a nation will be impoverished like the UK after WWII. Britons in the 1950s were WAY poorer than Americans of a similar class.
Gas will probably be rationed. Why? 1, refineries will probably be struck by China to harm our economy and war effort. 2, China will probably apply pressure to foreign nations to cut off our oil supply. 3, this serves the fossil-fuel hating left's purposes.
In WWII, gas rationing wasn't necessary; we had plenty of oil. The problem was rubber, which came mainly from Japanese held territory. Tires had to be conserved and it was easier for the feds to limit driving via gas limits (and lower the speed limit) or else we'd drive on rims.
This about the drag queen counter-protest that they violently broke up the other day. Get serious about this stuff because these individuals are serious and dangerous.

"They are mentally unstable, delusional, and ready to commit suicide. Any person willing to take their own life is willing to take yours without a second thought. Let’s not give them the opportunity. These people are getting more and more dangerous as time goes on."

Our ports are closed and in smoking ruins, our military aircraft have been damaged on the tarmac, refineries have been struck, and we're just barely recovering from a crippling cyberattack.
Americans are panicked. From the first attacks, people have been fleeing east into the deserts, mainly in CA and WA. Hotel rooms in places like Spokane, Vegas, Bakersfield, and Phoenix are packed with scared refugees. Highways are no longer clogged, tho they were initially.
Here's what a conventional war with China might look like in CONUS. Goals: disrupt and delay the US ability to respond in the Pacific. How: Beyond sinking Third Fleet, neutralize West Coast ports and hinder the ability of the military to deploy to WESTPAC.
Probably going to see conventional cruise missile strikes on the naval facilities and ports. China doesn't, as of yet, have the same sub-launched cruise missile capabilities we do, like SSGNs, so they'll probably go for disguised container ships or "Q-Ships" in WWII.
Russia pioneered the technology but it would be stupid to assume that China doesn't/won't do this as well. With all the merchant traffic that the US gets directly from the PRC, it would be trivial to turn a cargo ship into a Trojan horse missile carrier for a surprise attack.
1. Antifa came armed and prepared for a fight. The demonstrators were not.
"Antifa were well armed and equipped: a battledress-equivalent "uniform", face masks, umbrellas to block the view of security cameras, and firearms that cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars."
2. Teamwork
"Two armed individuals confront and distract the demonstrators while a third sneaks up behind them, reaches between them and pepper-sprays the victims."
How to take over a local community, AKA be your own warlord or through a bloodless coup.
Assumption is you've got lots of money or a likeminded group.
Money talks. Be a big or largish business moving in. Take a car dealership for instance. Big brand name and the owner is probably well-known around town. Employ people, do quality business, get a good reputation and spread money around.
Make donations. Donate to the police charity fun, the firefighter boot drive, sponsor and volunteer the pancake run, etc. Donations are basically legal bribes in many cases. You're buying goodwill. On the immoral side, lots of stuff good donors do gets ignored in small towns.
