Pt. 4 (the last one), what will a war with China be like for the average American?

In short, it's the end of the dollar and the American economy. We as a nation will be impoverished like the UK after WWII. Britons in the 1950s were WAY poorer than Americans of a similar class.

Gas will probably be rationed. Why? 1, refineries will probably be struck by China to harm our economy and war effort. 2, China will probably apply pressure to foreign nations to cut off our oil supply. 3, this serves the fossil-fuel hating left's purposes.

In WWII, gas rationing wasn't necessary; we had plenty of oil. The problem was rubber, which came mainly from Japanese held territory. Tires had to be conserved and it was easier for the feds to limit driving via gas limits (and lower the speed limit) or else we'd drive on rims.

Much of the USA WWII rationing wasn't necessary. We had enough food and stuff, tho other categories which were largely imported might have had shortages. Rationing was to limit inflation since everyone was working right after the Depression. The UK was a different story.

Expect shortages on everything, including prescription drugs. Lots of it is made overseas, and if not in China, it has to come through the ports which will probably have scuttled ships sitting in the way. Plus that begs another question we'll look at further on.

The cheap Chinese plastic crap pipeline stops. Since everything is made in China or goes through a port, you're not getting it. What's on the shelves is it. The market will probably take care of a lot of the rationing issues along with stores enforcing their own sales limits.

Walmart & Amazon will be in deep shit. Any China-related stock will tank simply because the supply of stuff from Asia just stopped. Guess abandoning the American manufacturing sector was a great idea huh, Wall Street? Try not to hit anybody when you jump from the window!

On the plus side, defense stocks will go to the moon. Lots of broken stuff that will need to be rebuilt and replaced (hint: it won't, we can't afford it) and Wall Street will go nuts for Boeing, etc. Raytheon FTW.

If we're really lucky, the international community will step up to fill the void left by China to sell all the cheap things we offshored decades ago to Americans. But will they really? It's doubtful especially the way these smaller nations are cozying up to China

Federal spending will implode. Jerome Powell gonna have to make it rain to pay for the war. Forget war bonds, we have a money printer. Inflation will go to plaid (Spaceballs joke). This will further devaluate the dollar in the eyes of the world...

...who probably won't want to do business with a soon to be worthless currency. Just look what happened to the pound sterling after the Suez Crisis. USD reserve status will be gone. So that means it won't be easy to have countries fighting over who gets to fill China's void.

So the dollar is tanking, inflation is skyrocketing, massive shortages are hitting, and stocks are tanking. Layoffs happen. A new depression will happen. Your standard of living will start dropping really fast. People are gonna get really pissed off.

With people angry and scared, the first thing that is going to happen is a lot of misplaced violence towards Asians. Burning down the house in Palmdale that Chinese spies used is reasonable, as is an hoc militia hunting down PRC commandoes, but not random violence against Asians.

#stopasianhate will trend again. Most likely, the usual suspects will be offering violence against anyone of Asian descent ("They all look the same to me!") in epidemic levels. I imagine racial violence will grow to levels we haven't seen since before the civil rights era.

Remember, there's a good chance tens of thousands of Americans die on Day 1. We will probably have 20k dead in short order before any real island hopping begins. America is not prepared for this level of dead servicemembers and it will be horrifically shocking to the nation.

Expect an already fractured society to split more--not even touching on the implications of civil war. Wanting Chinese blood is natural, but this won't be a rah-rah "beat Hitler & Tojo" kinda thing. We will be fighting for our survival as a nation and any victory will be pyrrhic.

This war winds up as an s-show. Our military will be devastated. Our nation will be frightened, further fractioned, and far poorer. Our economy and the dollar will be toast. Buckle up cuz it's gonna suck.
