About to join the Leaning & Sustainability session #T5S1. This is less about the waste within L&D (let’s face it there’s a lot), and more focused on how learning can help businesses become more sustainable. @Brittany_Sage_B of Kraft Heinz Company & @tessrobinsonLAS. #LT23UK
@tessrobinsonLAS opens the session with the first photo showing climate refugee region from North America. Really demonstrating the seriousness of this topic. #LTUK23
‘Your learners are influenced by external factors’. @tessrobinsonLAS asks us to consider these personal factors ‘when designing our learning in-house’ #LTUK23
Evidence that too few of us are taking this subject seriously, the conference session has very few attendees! #T5S1#TL23UK
What’s stopping us talking about climate?
- overwhelming
- complexity
- not people focused
- too ‘woke’
- guilt
- divisive
- feels far away #T5S1#LT23UK
Sustainability is another change topic. ‘In learning we have the opportunity to support people with changing their behaviour’ says @tessrobinsonLAS it starts with a small conversation #T5S1#LT23UK
Mini groups from the audience sharing their climate stories with each other. We’ve heard about: 1. Engaging employees with the larger org vision of carbon neutrality. 2. Educating and having standards for supply chain. 3. From cars to bikes to make it to the office. #T5S1#LT23UK
That 3rd story on cars to bikes saw more men take it up. Following investigation turns out hair dryers were not good enough for women to switch. Designing policies that are inclusive is fundamental.
‘The procurement professional of the past is not the procurement profession of the future’ @Brittany_Sage_B #T5S1#LT23UK
‘Learning becomes a key enabler’. @Brittany_Sage_B shares the design thinking for Procurement Sustainability Capabilities Program. #T5S1#LT23UK
Creating networks and collaboration is a key component of this Sustainability Capabilities Program #T5S1#LT23UK
A quarter of the total procurement population wanted to join the sustainability Masters program @KraftHeinzCo. #T5S1#LT23UK
Those who complete the Masters program would be expected to role model, mentor and share stories. Creating a springboard community. Great program overview from @Brittany_Sage_B#T5S1#LT23UK
Next session on Integrated Learning #T4S5 starting now. @kevinavis is about to take the stage and in the meantime the audience is met with funky music ‘Super Freak’ 🎶
@kevinavis opens the session offering us some of his background and how he fell in love with people. 3rd sector, private sector, often highly regulated sectors. Huge focus on change and transformation. ‘Fun and dirty work’ #T4S5#LT23UK
What questions would you like answered by the end of this session? The audience are asked to respond on Menti whilst Love Shack plays in the background #T4S5#LT23UK
A personal story from @lavimariam about getting feedback that she’d never be the successor bc she lacked people skills. Then she got a new manager, who wanted to play to Lavinia’s strengths. And she was promoted.
She asked her direct report how she’s doing as a manager…
