"A form as resplendent as the fiery flame" - Sudaranaiya Tirumeni.
In one of the many Tiruppugazh, Arunagirinathar vividly describes how he wants Murugan to appear before him.
How's that? #ShortThread #Murugan
This is a Kesadi Paada description.
Arunagirinathar says,
"You should come to me in a form,
As shapely and resplendent as the fiery flame, manifesting the matured wisdom as the Jnana Svaroopa,
All 6 faces wearing brilliant crowns"
Then, he moves beyond the face.
Arunagirinathar talks about garlands of fragrant flowers adorning Murugan
Who gave them? Devas, of course.
"You should come to me,
With those garlands given by the Suras,
Which are swarmed by bees,
And from which sweet nectar drips down"
On the occasion of #ValmikiJayanti , a short thread on the three beautiful metaphors that the Adi Kavi Valmiki uses to describe how Ahalya rises from the curse.
Here's Ahalya by Raja Ravi Varma.
A quick summary of the background.
In the absence of Rishi Gautama, Indra visits the Asrama where Ahalya is.
Gautama learns what has happened and curses Indra and Ahalya.
The curse on Indra is not important to us.
Let's look at Gautama's curse upon Ahalya.
He says that Ahalya will live in the Asrama for 1000s of years, without food and consuming only air.
But that's a form of Tapasya that many Rishis have undertaken.
