Earth had been getting hotter and hotter in the coming years. The world's scientists predict that if the rising of the sea level doesn't kill humankind, the sun's burning ultraviolet rays could. In the year 2050,the UN declared that every country will

put forward a group of selected individuals to take on the world mission to look for a new planet that could sustain human life in the milky way galaxy or further.

Jeon jk, a junior environmental biologist had just gotten engaged to the love of his life, Park jm

also a senior environmental biologist when the declaration was made.
Jm  knew he would definitely be on that list but Jk wouldn't be on it coz he was still a junior scientist with no real field experience yet . But jk couldn't just let the love of his life walk away without

the assurance that he would return to earth. Jm's life was too precious, he still had so much to do, so much to accomplish, so much to discover so jk did the only thing he could think of, he took Jms place and went to space.

The siren blared on as people in the Hexagon scrambled to shut the blinds of their pods and take cover from the in-coming heat flares. The inhabitants of the Hexagon didn't have it worse, in fact the most they could feel during these waves was like being passed through an

oven or furnace, but it was still dangerous to be exposed to the ultraviolet rays of the sun that were present in these heat waves and therefore everyone was strongly advised to keep inside their pods at all times when the sirens went off to warn them of the incoming heat flare.

Jeon Jk helped his fiance shut their blinds quickly and turn on their humidifier before settling down on the couch together. They had just arrived back home from the main lab after a 48 hour shift and a general meeting with the head scientists. Jungkook was tired but not as

tired as his fiancé who had much more responsibilities than him.
"Are you alright, little love?", Jungkook asked, kissing the top of his fiance's head. Park Jimin nodded but buried his face into the other's chest as the sirens kept on wailing in the distance, signalling how

close the flare was getting.
Jungkook held him a comforting grip but tightened his grip as the siren blared into a pattern that warned the inhabitants of the Hexagon that the flare was approaching this complex.

Jm held onto him with a shaky grip as they felt the heat starting to spike up. Jungkook ran a soothing hand on his fiancé's back, kissing his forehead to distract him from the heat.
Ever since the heat flares had started, Jk has trained himself to get used to the high

degree of heat but for some reason Jm couldn't do it, maybe it was because of how much time he spent in the humid labs monitoring the only surviving plant lives they had or maybe it bought out past memories but Jm wouldn't talk about it and Jk didn't push him on the subject.

The heat could get up to 50-60°C and it could last for a minimum of 1 minute to a maximum of 5 minutes approximately.This one passed by under two minutes before the all clear alarm sounded.
"Love", jk said softly and shook his fiancée." The flare has passed".

Jm slowly peeked out from jk's chest, calming his breath down, his eyes were lined with tears & jk quickly lifted his chin, looking into his eyes.

"Hey, hey",jk asked softly."What's wrong love..did something happen at the lab?".
jm sniffed then smiled, blinking the tears away.

I just…..",he began but then seemed to think the best of it and shook his head." It's the heat...it was a little too hot this time".
Jk nodded, he too had noticed the spike in the flare.
We'll be safe as long as we stay inside the Hexagon love", jk reassured him, caressing his

his cheek." You don't have to worry your pretty head about it okay?"

Jm nodded.

Jk smiled." Why don't you get started on the bath and I'll join you in a minute mmh? I'll send our work report to headquarters and get the bed cozy so we can fall asleep after our bath".

His fiancée nodded and got up but not before placing a soft kiss on his lips and walking away. Jk couldn't help but notice the absentminded look in his fiancée's eyes...the look he got when he had some troublesome thoughts in his head.

jm let the warm water fill up the bath tub before he discharged his clothes and stepped inside. His bones ached from the fatigue of staying up in the lab for 48 hrs and warm water provided a soothing welcome as he sunk in, letting the liquid kiss around his body. He ordered his

mind not to think about the conversation he had just had with the head scientist but he couldn't help it, not when he knew what it meant and why Dr Kim had pulled him aside specifically.
"The UN is preparing to make an important address tomorrow" Dr Kim informed him.

" I'm not supposed to tell you this but I owe the truth of the circumstances to you at least. They will launch 'Project Earth 2.0' and you will most likely be on that list to board the spacecraft ".
"Wh-hat?", his voice had shook then.
"I'm sorry Jimin", Dr Kim had said, a

look of sympathy dawning on his face as jm digested the news." Jungkook will not be on the list and he has to remain on earth".

The tears started again as the words echoed in his head and jm sunk further into the water, letting the water rise up above him.
He couldn't leave jk.

He had lost so much and so many people to the dying earth, leaving jk behind would destroy him completely and what of the Journey? What if it took forever to find a new planet? What if by the time they came back, there was no earth to return to?

"Jimin!", he heard jk shouting above him but his fiancé's voice sounded so far away from him and he felt like no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't come back up to the surface, not when it would mean he got to see jk's face.
"Jimin!" another shout before he was being yanked

out of the water by jk, a look of distress clear on his face. he pulled the smaller man into his chest and hugged him tightly." Don't scare me like that little love.. please don't scare me like that".
"I'm sorry....I'm sorry ", jm sobbed into his chest and somehow

jk knew his fiancé wasn't apologizing for what had just happened but for something else he wasn't saying.
They stayed like that for a minute before jk slowly got into the bath tub too and pulled his fiancé on his lap. he slowly ran his hands on jm's back and

started massaging the tight knots away.
"Let's have our wedding tomorrow", jm said out of the blue. Jk's hand stopped moving.
"What?"
jm turned to him." We've been engaged for two months now Koo....and I don't think we'll have any more free time to ourselves now that

we're working overtime...so let's get married tomorrow ".
Jk stared at him as if he was crazy but then his face broke into a huge smile and jm felt his heart ache a little.
"You're crazy park jm ", jk laughed and pulled him closer, kissing him passionately." and I think I fall

in love with you everyday because of that".
jm kissed him back." I love you too. I love you so much Koo".
"I'll make the arrangements tonight", jk said between kisses." it won't be extravagant but it'll be just us and it's going to be beautiful".

jm nodded in agreement as he straddled his fiancée's lap. jk's mouth found it's way to his neck and his chest as his hands helped jm become one with him.
"You're so beautiful little love", jk whispered against his skin." I love you. I love you so much too".
"Promise me"

"mmh?"
"Promise me", jm gasped between the pleasures of his fiancée's thrusts."— that whatever happens. It's you and me until the end".
"Always little love", his lover replied, kissing him again." It's always going to be you and me until this world burns".

jk called Dr Kim that same night.
"Jimin and I want to get married tomorrow", he said into the phone. "and since you're the head of our department, can you be the officiator?"
"Tomorrow?", The doctor echoed his words as if he was joking. " Jk.... are you sure?"

Was he sure?what kind of a question was that? Of course he was sure about marrying jm , he would throw himself into the flare if jm asked him, that was how much he loved jm.
"I'm sure", jk chuckled." Why? Will there be a problem?"
".....no", Dr Kim replied." Not at all"

Another heat flare passed during the night but it wasn't as hot as the one during the day. The two lovers held each other tightly as they drifted off to sleep, wishing tomorrow would come quickly so they could get married and officially be husbands.

jm woke up earlier than jk. He always did ever since they had moved into the Hexagon. It was had become a habit of his to watch his fiancé sleeping. He loved that jk was always holding onto his hand while he slept , as if he never wanted to let jm go.
"Good morning my love", jm

whispered, placing a soft kiss on jk's lips. He felt his fiancé stir and then smile against his lips and slowly wrap his arms around jm.
"It's today ", Jk murmured softly as he peeked his eyes open while pulling jm back to bed and cuddling him from the back.

"I'm finally going to make you my husband today".
He placed his chin on the place between jm's neck & shoulder.
"What should we wear?"
"Nothing fancy of course", jm mused turning around to face his fiancé." I still have that suit I wore to the presentation of my research"

"And I got the one I wore to your award night".
they laid there quiet for some time before jm moved closer & kissed jk again.
"Today is going to be the happiest day of my life jk", he whispered, years gathering at the corner of his eyes.
jk kissed him back." It will be mine too"

"come on Minnie! We're going to be late!", jk giggled as he pulled jm with him down the stairs. they were both dressed in their suits, nothing too fancy of course. They had both styled their hair with the limited amount of resources before looking each other over and giving

each other the nod of approval.
The Hexagon was a stack of small hexagon shaped apartments built in the shape of a hexagon with the main research lab suited right in the centre of it. Jm and jk's apartment was on the top floor so they had to go down a few stairs

and then take the elevator to the 2nd floor landing that would take them through a glass bridge and into the main lab.
"AHH!", jm gasped, stopping jk midway." Flowers! I don't have—...flowers"
his voice got smaller at the end as he realised what he had said

jk squeezed his hand with a quick reassuring smile.
"We'll find some polyester ones at the lab mmh?"
jm nodded but the weight that was pressing against his heart got heavier. why would he say something insensitive like that. He should've remembered that all plant life

had ceased to exist and he was the one in charge of keeping the only living species alive.
"Hey", his fiancé stopped and turned to him." Don't think about it too much...today is supposed to be our happiest day remember?"
jm tried to smile and he guessed jk saw it coz

the other pulled him close and kissed his forehead.
" Cheer up little love", he murmured." Forget about your worries and let's go get married.

Dr Kim had granted them the use of the greenhouse, the place where jm spent most of his time studying the plant species

As jm and jk arrived, they saw Dr Kim waiting in front of the greenhouse in his lab coat and his spectacles. jk thought he looked older and much wiser with the pushed back hair style he had going on.
jk turned to look at his fiancé and jm smiled at him.
"I'll meet you up there"

jk forward a few steps before he stopped beside the newly blooming heliotropes and picked a branch before he turned back and proceeded to hand it to jm.
"Koo! We're not—"
"He'll understand", jk said before he turned on his heel and started up to aisle again.

jm watched as jk walked up and shook hands with Dr Kim before turning around and looking towards him, his bunny smile radiating on his face.
the heavy fist that was clenching around jm's heart seemed to squeeze it as he lifted his leg to take the first step towards his fiancée

His head screamed at him , asking him what he was doing when he was going to leave jk behind after today's announcement from the UN. His lips quivered as the tears gathered around his eyes & he took the first step.
Marriage was a commitment for life so what the heck was he doing?

jk's smile started to fade a little as he watched his fiancée struggle to walk up the aisle towards him and Dr Kim. he made to start towards jm but

Dr Kim held him back.
"Give him time", the elder said, smiling sadly as he watched jm also.
jk nearly screamed when jm collapsed to the ground suddenly and in the speed of light, he was there catching his fiancée as jm broke down into a sobbing mess.
"Baby, what's wrong?"

"Did something happen?"
"Are you having second thoughts?"
"We don't have to get married if you're having second thoughts"
"Jimin talk to me please... please love"
jk was crying too as he held his fiancée in his arms, the smaller man's body going slack against his as he weeped

"Jimin...."
The elder sniffed and started to get up, holding jk's hand tightly.
"You and me Koo", he whispered, tears still streaming down his face as jk stood up alongside him." Always you and me".
"Of course my love...you have me always".
"Promise?"
"Promise"

Dr Kim cleared his throat and started the process of wedding the sobbing couple.
"We are gathered here to witness the beautiful union of jeon jk and park jm whose shared love, despite the circumstance transcends all troubles and problems. You may say your vows"

"I, Jeon jk, promise to love you in this life and next till the earth burns with flames and even in death, may our souls always be together "
