Yadava king Maharaja Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar of Mysore was one of the pioneers in introducing reservations for lowered castes in India. His visionary decision in 1921 set an example for other states to follow, and paved the way for social justice and inclusivity in India. 🙏🏽
Nalwadi Wadiyar, the 24th ruler of Yadu dynasty, formed a commission for the development of backward classes. Krishnaraja Wadiyar introduced reservation for backward castes in the government sector and empowered the women giving them the right to vote.
Wadiyar implemented a reservation policy as an affirmative action of social justice, brushing aside stiff opposition from top men in his administration, including Diwan Sir M Visvesaraya and protests from upper castes.

सरकार और अदालत द्वारा एससी-एसटी एक्ट रद्द किये जाने के बाद 2 अप्रैल 2018 को दलित समाज ने बड़ा आंदोलन किया था। देश भर में दलित बहुजन समाज अपने इस संवैधानिक अधिकार को बचाने के लिए सड़कों पर उतर आए थे। क्या गांव, क्या शहर हर ओर सड़कों पर सिर्फ नीले झंडे और बाबासाहब की तस्वीरें थीं। ImageImageImageImage
एससी-एसटी एक्ट 1989 का एक स्पेशल एक्ट है। इसे इसलिए बनाया गया था, क्योंकि भारतीय दंड संहिता यानी आईपीसी की धाराओं के बावजूद एससी और एसटी के ख़िलाफ जाति के आधार पर होने वाले अपराध कम नहीं हो रहे थे। प्रशासन के जातिवादी होने पर, अपराधी बच निकलते थे।

जवाब - क्या आपके धर्म में छुआ-छूत है? क्या आप लोग आप लोग आपस में छूआ-छूत करते हैं?

मुसलमान/ईसाई- क्या बात करते हो? हमारे धर्म में सब बराबर हैं।

जवाब- फिर अछूतपन के आधार पर बनी लिस्ट SC का आरक्षण आपको कैसे मिलेगा?
हिंदुओं में तो धर्म में छुआ-छूत है। मनुस्मृति से लेकर महाभारत सब जगह इसका वर्णन है।
1935 में पहली बार अछूत जातियों की लिस्ट यानी Schedule बना। सिर्फ़ depressed classes को ही इनमें रखा गया। यही विधान अब भी है। पिछड़ेपन के आभार पर OBC है। इसमें मुसलमान और ईसाई धर्मों की ज़्यादातर जातियाँ हैं। SC लिस्ट में तो अछूत होने की शर्त है।
