You'd think people would see that as such. However, many of the replies were like these

These were the nice ones. There were also angrier tweets as in pic.

Fortunately, @WholeMarsBlog viewers usually know what to expect, and possibly many think the way he and I do, so most responders got his point, like @wyldeAF in the previous pic did

My experience was much worse

I saw a political tweet showing a girl listening to (one of the candidates') supporters saying shitty things, with the title "No wonder kids don't vote (his party)"

I MADE A HUGE MISTAKE

Technically KIDS CANNOT VOTE, ONLY ADULTS CAN, so seeing an opportunity for a gag, I replied something like

"Not going into politics, but Kids don't vote for (other party) either. Only adults do😁

(and agree, these guys are assholes)"

Not a huge joke, but OK gag, right?

What happened was a HUGE onslaught of comments bashing me

One guy explained I meant it as a joke, he got bashed as well

I explained it was a joke, and was accused of trying to cover up for myself after being shown as dumb

I tried to explain the joke, showing definition of kid. BTW, by UN definitions, voting age a huge part of what separates child and adult

Nothing helped. People hated on me. Finally I deleted everything

Not going crybaby, I'm sure many of you had similar experiences. BUT WHY?

Why is it that society, or at least online discord, has turned into hating anyone thinking slightly different from you?

Why do so many people take everything so fuckin' seriously?

Where has humor gone?
OK to think my JOKE was lame, but why do so many not get jokes

I see Elon's renovating of Twitter as a ray of light in darkening skies, but is it too late? Is society doomed?
