Gülen Movement by Fethulla Gülen
The Gülen movement of an alternate Islam gained influence during its alliance with conservative President Erdoğan, which saw hundreds of Gülen supporters appointed to positions within the Turkish government

Later in 2013Gulen raised corruption allegations against Erdogan’s AKP
He attempted to overthrow the Turkish government through a judicial coup by the use of corruption investigations and seized the group-owned newspaper (Zaman— one of the most circulated newspapers in Turkey) 2/

On 15 July 2016, a faction within the Turkish Armed Forces attempted a coup in Turkey
The coup leaders were linked to the Gülen movement and backed by the US where Fethulla resides himself
Events surrounding the coup attempt and the purges in its aftermath are complex 3/

Gülen also had a massive presence in Pakistan at that time until it was declared a terrorist organisation by the government 4/

The coup in 2016 was crushed swiftly but since then Erdogan has been conducting a systematic purge of all of Gülen’s influence from Turkish government, judiciary and society
The purges began with the arrest of Turkish Armed Forces personnel reportedly linked to the coup attempt5/

Arrests were expanded to include other elements of the Turkish military, as well as civil servants and private citizens. 2,745 judges were dismissed and detained
Collectively about 10% of Turkey's 2 million public employees were removed as a result of the purges 6/

In Pakistan, it took the military many years, at least since 2013 to establish deep rooted influence of #PTI sympathisers within each and every institution
Media was instrumental in creating a narrative of corrupt politicians in every party other than PTI 7/

Young military officers were force fed ARY and BOL transmission 24/7 to set an abhorrent image of the current system in place and the need for swift reform
They took it upon themselves to fix a “broken highly corrupt” system 8/

Social media was used to indoctrine into the youth that a messiah was there to rescue them from evil Sharifs and Zardaris
It was made trendy and hip to follow PTI and paindu, patwari, jiyala and a depraved maulvi if you supported #PMLN, #PPP and #JUI/JI 9/

Thankfully, with their incompetence #PTI lost the support of most of their enablers and the public in general only after a couple of years of being installed into power
IK, Bajwa and Faiz have been purged
There still are remnants in the army and judiciary which favour PTI 10/

The COAS and PDM are doing a commendable job of slowly and gradually conducting The Purge
Keyboard warriors like us won’t understand the gravity of the situation
You can’t just remove the visible part of a cancer, it has to be eradicated from its root along with it’s metastasis🛑
