My expectation is Manchester City wrap up the league against Chelsea in a dominating performance, then rotate heavily against Brighton.
Followed by a fairly strong side against Brentford to ensure momentum and rhythm aren’t lost for the FA Cup.
Mahrez and Alvarez I’m fairly confident start Brighton, and I think they are the two who could also play against Chelsea.
It’s very difficult to predict KDB’s presence, and with the surrounding stories of challenges off the field (hopefully him and his family are well) it…
throws another spanner into the works.
Alvarez would be first in line to start in that attacking RCM role.
The Chelsea fixture is tailor made for Mahrez, it’s whether he can displace B.Silva following his brace against the European champions.
This fixture has serious haul…
potential for those involved.
Strategy wise I’d at most double up on City’s attack.
Mahrez would most certainly be my preference - huge ceiling.
I’d move Grealish to Mahrez given his output levels and likelihood to only start one game.
If I had to choose I’d say Mahrez does start against Chelsea (and Brighton), but ultimately you should consider all the factors for yourself and come to your own conclusion because it’s a close one.
💎 Everything Manchester Utd
I’ll start with Antony, because I’ve seen some discussion surrounding him.
To his credit, he’s had improved performances in the latter parts of the season, in comparison to earlier stages.
However, with how precious transfers are leading into…
GW38 as discussed later, his “medium” ceiling, his unsure xMins amongst other factors (MID spots are so precious) - I don’t see how you can justify this.
Huge risk, medium reward on offer.
This isn’t a very logical move, it’s more of a hit and hope.
Other assets to consider…
De Gea, AWB, Shaw, Rashford and Bruno.
Don’t over-complicate this.
They are all very good assets (maybe AWB aside but he’s a cheap alternative if you can’t afford Shaw).
Ideally you would have Rashford, Bruno and a defensive asset (1. Shaw - BPS & attacking…
returns, 2. De Gea - save point potential).
Providing Rashford is fit, I’d expect Man Utd to win both games and certainly score a healthy amount of goals in the process.
Bournemouth nor Chelsea can be considered a stern test, especially for the attacking players.
I’d ensure I have Fernandes, even if it’s for a hit. There’s no reason he can’t have a similar week to Callum Wilson.
It’s a bullish prediction but this is just where I stand on Man Utd; they win all 3 games and don’t score less than 5 goals in the process.
💎 Best ways to chase rank
1. Captaincy
As seen in DGW36, it can have an enormous swing.
Not going Haaland when he’s at home to Chelsea, looking to wrap up the league in front of the home fans and is chasing down records… well it’s difficult.
But for those willing to take…
on that risk, that’s your biggest opportunity.
Bruno Fernandes is my alternative.
Two good fixtures, a high ceiling, and form which is indicative of a haul.
He’s due like Estupinan & TAA were.
Difficult to justify anyone else.
2. Losing Mitoma/Mac Allister
This one is…
very complex.
On one hand you have:
A DGW for a team chasing a European spot, who play the 20th place side in the league who are already relegated.
Then likely face a heavily rotated Manchester City side who have been crowned champions four days prior.
On the other:
One asset who has amassed 20 points in his last 8 games, and consistently shown a lack of end product.
Then another asset who is playing as part of a double pivot to help build up, rather than get on the end of moves.
The performances of Mitoma in particular…
have been frustrating for owners.
3. Gameweek 38
If you are going to stick to a relatively template team this week (which makes a lot of sense), then the most chaotic SGW of the season is a great opportunity to attack
Simply look at the statistics, it produces significantly…
more goals than a usual GW, every season.
Having two FT’s for this week is gold dust.
Pivoting on captaincy and (2-3) differentials can lead to massive gains - plan for this.
I’ll discuss it in depth in the last thread of the season.
💎 Liverpool & Newcastle assets
Under no circumstance would I sell Trent Alexander-Arnold.
He’s the best defensive asset in the game, and has two good fixtures to follow.
With Liverpool’s pursuit of a UCL spot, combined with his form & KDB unlikely to play both games…
I wouldn’t be selling Salah either.
I’ve discussed Mahrez, and I really like him as a differential, but selling Salah (with his upside) is likely a step too far.
This section is extremely short given I’ve discussed it in the sections above.
Haaland is the most logical choice.
Bruno Fernandes the natural differential.
But the player I really like, *assuming you think he starts both games is Mahrez*.
A lot needs to go…
your way but for arguments sake let’s say he starts Chelsea and Brighton - with Haaland missing the latter after wrapping up the league at the Etihad.
Mahrez becomes a fantastic option, especially with his goal threat & penalty taking duties against Brighton (with the assumption… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Zincheko’s inverted nature the RW should certainly have a few opportunities to exploit this.
Aubameyang shouldn’t actually be too mobile in this game, force at least one of the CB’s to stay central and create isolated instances for the wingers.
However, Chelsea aren’t well versed in this system.
The 4-3-3 is the the hardest formation to play well and when you get it wrong, the are consequences catastrophic.
Trossard’s obvious advantage in the duel against Azpilicueta will force the RCB to play sidedly wider than…
💎 Take a broader perspective (Very important)
💎 Manchester City assets
💎 Liverpool assets
💎 Other players of concern - Trippier etc.
💎 Captaincy
💎 FH Draft
💎 GK’s & How many hits?
& the mid-block with his passing is significantly worse than Saliba’s.
It has caused Odegaard to make slight adjustments to his game, including dropping deeper at times to receive and start/increase the tempo of the initial phases of play.
Arsenal have still been good going…
forward, but you want your most creative player further up the pitch.
It appears Arteta doesn’t have numerous solutions available, at least not obvious one’s.
Moving White, Partey & Xhaka out of position and starting Jorginho are potentials but it’s not exactly the most ideal…
