It was indeed a great pleasure to, on behalf of the Governor of Lagos state @jidesanwoolu, break the ground for the commencement of construction of the ultramodern Custodian Accident and Emergency Center situated within the premises of the Epe General Hospital.
The construction of the trauma care center is supported by the custodian social responsibility foundation, a member of the @CustodianPLC.
The ultramodern center is in keeping with Mr. Governor’s Medical Infrastructure Transformation Agenda and in furtherance of the
administration’s strategy to efficiently manage road traffic accidents and reduce fatalities.
@followlasg in the last two years has ramped up its ambulance services with skilled paramedics and a fleet of over 30 modern intensive care ambulances including water ambulances
to provide emergency care to hard-to-reach riverside communities.
@jidesanwoolu's administration recognises the need for stand-alone emergency facilities for trauma and critical emergencies. To this end, stand-alone emergency facilities are built around major highways across
the state in addition to maintaining accident and emergency departments in its over 30 General Hospitals.
As part of the effort to reduce accidents, @followlasg banned the use of motorcycles (Okada) for commercial transportation in no fewer than 10 local govt areas.
The ban on commercial motorcycle has led to about 30% reduction in road accidents.
Road traffic accidents in Lagos State average about 32 per 1000 inhabitants being one of the highest records in cities across the world.
To this extent, ensuring safety on our roads through
.
provision of good and motorable roads, proper signage, and proper conduct of traffic becomes a compelling priority for the government.
Well-equipped and efficient ambulances services is critical to responding to emergencies and timely treatment of victims.
The construction of the Custodian Accident and Emergency Centre is therefore expected to be completed within 18 months and fully equipped to provide efficient services #ForAGreaterLagos

Process for Triage and Management of Mass Casualties in Lagos State.
The first step involves @lasema_NG, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency arriving at the scene with heavy equipment to cordon and secure the area.
This helps to create access for the Ambulance service
and specialy trained paranedical staff to reach the patients.
The principle of TRIAGE
Triage is a process of assessing the severity of injury in a mass casualty in order to prioritize treatment to save lives. Some patients need immediate attention while others can be stabilised
and attended to after those with life threatening conditions have been attended to.
The first triage stage is usually at the site of the accident by the trained paramedics that work for @lasambus, the @lasambus is equipped with modern and new Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
It was a great honour for my team and I @LSMOH to,on behalf of Governor @jidesanwoolu, receive the mobile clinic truck donated by @MTNNG
The well equipped mobile clinic truck will be used to conduct medical outreaches and primary healthcare services in 14 LGAs across Lagos State
as a component of the @MTNNG Yello Doctor Project phase 3
The Project deploys mobile medical clinics aimed at strengthening primary healthcare system in Nigeria through the provision of free primary healthcare services to underserved communities across Nigeria.
The 14 LGAs where the outreaches will take place are: Alimosho, Apapa, Amuwo-Odofin, Badagry, Eti-Osa, Ifako-Ijaiye, kosofe, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Ibeju-lekki, Epe, Ikeja, Lagos Mainland Ojo and Shomolu.
The project will run for a year commencing from February 2022 in Alimosho LGA.
In furtherance of the commitment of @followlasg to deploy effective response to #COVID19 pandemic, a brand new oxygen plant situated at Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Yaba, was activated yesterday, January 8, 2021.
The oxygen plant was built in collaboration with @gatesfoundation in response to the second wave of #COVID19 in Lagos State.
Oxygen plants are industrial device designed for regular supply into healthcare facilities. The plants separate oxygen from other air components
by using pressure swing adsorption or membrane separation techniques.
High purity oxygen is needed in healthcare facilities and essential for patients undergoing COVID treatments.
The increased demand for oxygen for treatment of patients in the second wave of the #COVID19
Today, I was with the Governor of Lagos State @jidesanwoolu to officially commission the new Armoured Shield Isolation Center powered by @ReddingtonLagos, in its effort to support @followlasg in the fight against the second wave of #COVID19
The purpose built isolation and treatment center is equipped to provide all levels of #COVID19 care from isolation to level 3 ICU care
The medical facility will be managed by a multi-disciplinary panel of specialist to provide services which includes:
* PCR Testing
* Telemedicine services
* A one-stop comprehensive care of all cases of COVID-19 infection from mild to severe including complications.
* Isolation and hospitality services for mild cases.
* High dependency care for moderate cases.
Towards the end of 1st wave we experienced;
📍Changing pattern in Positivity rate
📍Isolation centre almost empty
📍Death rate dropped dramatically
At this point it was important to balance public health response and allowing the economy to reopen.
📍Schools were reopened
📍Religious hoses opened
📍Social gathering and entertainment resumed.
There was general laxity with the false sense that #COVID19 infection is down.
However by the begining of December, 2020 with the reopening of the economy and increase in testing capacity of between 1,500 to 3,000 we started witnessing increase in positivity.
Following Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s exposure to a confirmed case of #COVID19, a PCR test performed yesterday the 11th of December has confirmed that he has indeed been infected with the virus which is supported by mild
symptoms and fatigue typical of a mild case of #COVID19 Mr Governor is receiving treatment and is being closely monitored at home by the very experienced State #COVID19 clinical team from IDH Yaba.
Mr Sanwo-Olu is doing well on treatment and rest and we are confident that
he will recover quickly and clear the virus. We are seeing slightly increasing number of #COVID19 positive cases in clusters in Lagos and all residents and visitors should strictly adhere to the prescribed advisories of safe distancing, mask wearing, good hand and respiratory
