Oh y’all. It’s so much worse. SO much worse. @Tennessean has threatened to sue #CovenantSchool, Covenant parents, & Covenant Church for attorney’s fees & expenses if the parents aren’t successful in keeping Audrey Hale’s writings unreleased. 1/

Trying to find a video link that I can post here, but on @NC5’s FB page, 5/23 at 4:24pm, there’s a post titled “The Covenant School document hearing,” in which Metro Law Director Wally Dietz provides a personal comment about @Tennessean’s threat to #CovenantSchool survivors. 2/

Dietz: “We believe that those parents & family members should have the right to have a day in what documents get released & don’t. We believe the church & the school each has a right to be heard.” (Regarding Metro Legal’s approach to the #CovenantSchool shooter’s writings. 3/

Dietz: “The @Tennessean has said…we may sue you for attorney’s fees & expenses under a particular state statute.
Well that’s fine when you’re talking about Metro. But they also threatened to sue the parents & the church & the school for those costs & attorney’s fees…” 4/

Dietz: “…and on a personal level, I would hope that the @Tennessean would think twice about asserting that allegation against the (#CovenantSchool) parents & the church & the school, who are the victims of what our mayor has called the worst day in #Nashville’s history.” 5/

Y’all what is even happening, when our local newspaper insists on asserting its power over the #CovenantSchool victims, to the point of telling a judge they are not victims & threatening to SUE THEM for costs? @Gannett, what the hell, y’all? Get out. Haven’t we suffered enough?

If you live in a town where @Gannett owns the newspaper, would you please help me stand with #CovenantSchool families by calling or emailing your local Gannett offices & letting them know the LAST thing these families should fear is paying Tennessean’s legal fees? 7/

Do you want your subscription dollars to pay lawyers to threaten #CovenantSchool families whose children were murdered, or whose children wake up screaming at midnight or fear “the bad guys” will come back to school?
I don’t either. That’s not my America.
