Great #SEO requires you to have a solid value proposition.

I have seen too many projects fail for the wrong reasons.

Want some common sense?

Here it is 🧡
Don't start a project without knowing the budget.

It's fine to explore topics and ideas but don't exaggerate.

You can't compete in some niches without the proper resources.

This is why some projects fail. They forgot to estimate costs and revenues...
Now, financial estimation isn't SEO but something an investor should do.

Some domains are clearly money sinks and you as an SEO may help in finding such opportunities.

I recommend avoiding projects that are destined to fail.

It's a waste of time for either party involved.
There must be a value proposition.

Do you think people love reading soulless content?

Site A has unique, engaging content.

Site B is dull, repetitive and clearly written for money.

Site C has unique content and also distributes it.

C is the winner.
Copying competitors doesn't work that well.

You should complete your clusters but don't base your entire strategy on spying.

Find what's untapped and go there.

This is another type of estimation.

What'd be the return of being like others?
Traditional niche building is exploitative.

Find a topic, write as much as you can, don't update anything.

Make some bank and then flip it.

No brand building, terrible UX, heavy hits after updates...

0 interest for the end user.
Brand building is holistic and doesn't only involve SEO.

Credibility is crucial.

This opens up a lot of opportunities that go beyond checking "RPMs", which is quite limited if you ask me.

The best proof of competence is building everlasting brands.
Rankings are a vital part of a brand, it's not like you should ignore SEO.

Simply put, you shouldn't stop there.

SEO gets you traffic, and it's your role to redirect it elsewhere.

Email lists, communities, groups, etc.
Speaking of value and uniqueness, you need a good staff.

Hiring a cheap workforce works in simple B2C niches but I don't think it's profitable.

Quality costs and if you are half serious about your content you want quality.
VA, editing and related activities are not core.

They are supporting activities as they are not directly related to how you make money.

But content quality? That's often tied to what you promote or offer the user.

You can't sleep on this.
The rule of thumb for me is this one:

If you can't offer a unique article or one that outperforms the others, then don't publish.

It's a bit extreme, I know.

But once again, it works like a charm to avoid red flags.
Invest in image and video creation.

Not only it will make you stand out, but you can also start leveraging Pinterest!

Also, I've got positive results in Discover with my FHD Featured Images.
The fact that I got positive results isn't enough evidence...

but it's common sense nonetheless.

Good images lead to a positive UX and to unique content.

This is a no-brainer.
Obsessing over data is a problem at first.

When starting out, keep publishing and create good procedures.

You can think about the rest later, take it easy.

Once you grow big enough, you can start going deeper.
This can involve working on a newsletter and growing other channels.

You don't want to be stuck with SEO forever.

It's your gateway to heaven, not your ultimate goal.
When doing research, don't check Google only.

Consult:

βœ… Quora, Reddit, forums
βœ… Social media groups
βœ… YouTube
βœ… Books, papers, past research

And add your experience...
The issue with Affiliate is that you need to be credible.

Many people fail at that...

But this can also apply to written text.

Include personal opinions and deviate from the mass.

This is a super common rookie mistake.
Saturation is a myth...

but avoid crowded niches to make your life easier.

It's faster to leverage untapped niches instead.

There is still money left on the table.
If you can't afford to actually test things or be consistent, forget it.

Many people who get into aged domains buy mid stuff.

You only hear about the smart and successful minority.

In practice, people do buy and sell crap domains.
I like to check GSC data (if allowed) before I give recommendations.

In most cases, the things to check are quite easy and fast.

Don't buy domains who get traffic from a few pages and whose link profile is shady.

Do you know where many content websites struggle?

Processes because neither tools nor the #SEO industry talks about them.

It's all about abstraction and shiny objects, right?

Let's see some practical steps for ROI and πŸ’Έ 🧡
The first recommendation is to always label your data.

If you have a content plan (you should), it needs to contain:

- The cluster(s) an article belongs to

- Additional information like author, date published

You add what you can't scrape or see elsewhere.
Once you have decent data, we are ready for all the other steps.

Data quality and organization are not the future because they are the present.

You can see who is struggling by looking at their management.

Many organizations are not as organized as you think.

In the midst of AI hype, many #SEO practitioners get lost.

Some underrated topics are much more valuable than others.

Here are my personal recommendations 🧡
NLP concepts aren't that hard and it takes you like 2 weeks to learn most of them.

The basics alone do the trick.

Understanding how can machines process text is a big plus when explaining On-Page SEO.

Again, you only need some theory and that's it.
Content Marketing isn't simply creating content that ranks.

Embracing different perspectives and ideas is useful if you plan on creating content for multiple channels.

This is where you should be if you want to build a solid brand.

5 + 1 Underrated Things Content Websites Should Consider:

1. Custom images
2. Newsletter
3. A decent design just for branding
4. Internal Linking (in the body)
5. Informative About Us page
6. ???

Let's see how and why 🧡
Custom images are necessary to differentiate yourself and steal some spots for Images.

This is even more pressing in niches such as travel.

Canva is often enough unless you want to do professional infographics.
The reason why I recommend infographics is because they are easy to share.

This implies you could get some nice backlinks and more og content for your articles.

Don't underestimate the impact of images.

Websites of any kind should leverage:

πŸ‘‰ BigQuery
πŸ‘‰ Search Console API
πŸ‘‰ GA API
πŸ‘‰Tag Manager
πŸ‘‰ Any non-SEO data they can gather

Decision-making becomes so simple once you actually have good data.

Let's see how 🧡
BigQuery is not the only option but allows you to store data easily and stay within Google's ecosystem.

This is great news for integration with Google APIs and also for learning.

A lot of SEOs talk about BQ, so it's way easier for you!
BigQuery is one of the tidiest ways to store your data for SEO projects.

The storage costs tend to be quite low, the same I can't say for querying.

That's why knowing concepts such as clustering and partitioning can help you.

N.B. That's more engineering, you don't need them.

The 10 Most Common Errors in Content Audits.

Many can fall for cheap #SEO advice and get nothing.

I've audited small and large content websites to develop profitable processes.

This thread is for you 🧡
1. Only using one data source to delete articles.

If your website is using multiple channels, you should have other data than GSC.

Wait if one article has 0 clicks but high engagement on Facebook?

Guru advice says to delete it, I would never do that.
2. Using Google Analytics as your bible.

The average GA user looks at sessions or users that are hard to convert into actions.

I'd rather check Search Console first and get the unique query count.

Thinking in terms of queries is an additional step that will save you later.

Evergreen content is one of my favorite #SEO topics.

It's super crucial for publishers and especially for niche websites.

And yet, there are many ideas you can use 🧡
Evergreen refers to content that is not time-sensitive and is not particularly subject to seasonality or timeframes.

Search demand is constant through the years. They usually tackle recurring problems or super generic topics.
This type of content makes it easy to apply some advanced principles, as you want them to last.

Having good authors, good syntax with proper entities, and clear internal linking is the bare minimum for me.

This is very simple once you know the niche very well.
