As a woman, I am not interested in the party which put an older white man overseeing Status of Women.
As a mother, I am not interested in a party who cut essential supports for kids with disabilities, created a horrific curriculum, danced in the fountain due to GSA rules.../1
And attacked #ABDoctors so many left AB leaving many people without needed doctors.
A party which cited masks as the source of the #StudentMentalHealthCrisis yet ignore that students remain in crisis even though masks were removed.../2
I'm not interested in a party willing to continue to fund an internationally embarrassing war room chasing Netflix's Bigfoot yet REFUSE to adequately fund #WomensShelters even knowing 11k women *let alone their kids* were turned away in AB in 2022 alone due to lack of funding..3
I'm not interested in a party who refuses to address the massive issues with CFS.
I'm not interested in a party who opts to add boots to the ground rather than address underlying issues contributing to higher crime, houselessness, drug addiction, & domestic violence.../4
I'm not interested in a party which opted to lift caps which benefitted CEOs of companies whilst contributing to more everyday Albertans struggling to feed & house themselves.
I'm not interested in a party which does not oppose any candidate openly against the queer community.. 5
I'm not interested in many, many more things that are listed so well by others.
I am mostly not interested in a party which prides itself on handing out earplugs yet like to claim to listen to Albertans.
And I am NOT interested in seeing what another 4 yrs of UCP will do to AB..6
I have, surprisingly to many of you I am sure, never voted @albertaNDP prior to this election.
I did not agree with all that happened whilst they led AB.
However, I do see they have learned more & are trying.
I do know they are a much better option than UCP.
And I do know...7
We are #Albertans.
We came together during the flood & fire.
And I believe WE can come together to support each other & make AB a better place to be.
Albertans have needed innovative creative solutions for the many crises facing AB. But we MUST have a govt willing to listen..8
We have a choice currently between NDP and UCP.
That is it.
When so many past PC leaders are coming forward to support NDP because UCP has become so different from PC parties of the past...we really need people to pay attention
We will hold NDP's feet to the fire.
I promise...9
We are in crisis in AB.
This is the most important election we have yet had.
The biggest #BattleForAB.
We need to show up & vote.
And then CONTINUE to show up to show support for needed policy changes in ALL areas.
We can do this.
But I sincerely do not think under UCP. #ableg

Long thread *you are warned.😉
But powerful.
We need to rest this education break. And refresh.
Students will need our support. Educators will need our support. Parents will need support.
These are unprecedented times. Children learn daily. That is how they are built. /1
However, to learn optimally children need to be doing well mentally & emotionally. Students need to connect 1st then learn. Safe spaces are needed to process this year.
The following letter was put out by an upstate NY superintendent (Voorheesvile). It is a needed read.

"Dear Friends & Colleagues"
I am writing today about the children of this pandemic. After a lifetime of working among the young, I feel compelled to address the concerns that are being expressed by so many of my peers about the deficits the children will demonstrate when..../3
What a FABULOUS idea!
I would love it if we can add a moment of silence & a candle vigil for those who lost their lives in 2020 due to Covid.
Tag some friends.

Raise a glass & toast the solstice.
I identify as centrist. Every fed election since 18 I have voted Liberal. That option will never fly in AB even though many voters fit there. Which leader currently has highest popularity?? Fed Liberal. The central one. WTF AB. Quit attacking centrists. It is not helping. #ableg
I support a strong private economy. That often involves tax policies which support business. I support small/med business over large corporations. Tax the bigger ones more. Help the smaller ones.
I support O&G (NOT as the only resource) & definitely a move to Green Energy. /2
I support publicly funded essential services & social safety nets. Public ed & public hc. With the reality that currently not all kids fit within public education. I support the child first as we work towards a more #InclusiveEducation. This takes collaboration at all levels. /3
If we truly want to have struggling Albertans do better, & AB as a whole come out of its struggles, we need to step outside our own perspectives & dialogue with those around us. (I know - weird concept). Know what doesn't help at all? Attacking each other & making assumptions. /1
We all have our own concerns when it comes to what we consider the biggest issues for AB. *Newsflash - we do NOT all have the same concerns.* (So wild to consider.)
I can say- there often is common ground when we take the time to dialogue on issues. Start there with people. /2
When someone disagrees with you, it does nothing to attack and shut them down. If we opt to give space & listen to what they voice as their concerns & thoughts, we validate others & we both learn. Surprise - not one of us can know ALL the issues & have the only solutions. /3
I am done.
I am kind. Compassionate. Gracious. I truly believe we ALL do the best we can with what we have. When we know better, we do better, when we can.
But I do not think any UCP MLA is learning or wanting to do better. They continually do worse. #ableg /1
I am done with UCP creating needless stress & struggles for our most vulnerable with changes to #AISH. I have heard of 2 deaths by suicide directly due to UCP cuts. There will be more. Those on #AISH matter to me. They deserve compassion, not cuts. Support, not distress. /2
I am done being told there were no cuts to Ed. Bullshit. Feb had direct cuts to both PUF & ADLC & we KNOW if you compare numbers, there are cuts. How DARE UCP cause more struggles for kids, esp those with special needs. That is beyond cruel & immoral. These cuts harm kids. /3
A study released, cited in above article, relates a 16% increase in death by suicide rates for every 1% increase in unemployment. Albertans voted UCP primarily due to promises of job creation. Albertans have been hurting for years now, due to the global economic downturn in O&G
@jkenney
With the decision to lift insurance & electricity caps, Albertans now face much higher costs personally for both. As well, 1 school I know had a 400% increase to its insurance. This is not accounted for in the 2020 education budget. Is it expected broke Albertans pay?
