Instead of Imu being small/a kid, I think it’s more likely that the throne was never built for him to begin with.

Theory on Joy Boy, The Giant Straw Hat, The Empty Throne, and the Family of D:

(Thread 1/10 🧵) ImageImage
If the throne wasn’t originally his, then that means Imu must’ve fought in a war and usurped Joy Boy and the Ancient Kingdom

But then why would he keep his Straw Hat and what’s so important about it? Image
Well what if the Straw Hat is actually Joy Boy’s crown and now either a trophy that Imu keeps as a reminder of what he fought for, or a way to honour his memory if they were close friends and had a falling out? Image
JoyBoy was probably an immensely powerful figure so when Imu somehow defeated him and took the reigns, no one dared defy him

But why would he go against him in the first place? Well I think they had a clash in differing ideologies triggered by something that happened in that era Image
I’m not sure what could’ve happened but my best guess is that it’s something related to the Ancient Weapons Image
In One Piece, ideology clashes are more often than not polar opposites of each other.

In that case, we know Imu sought to rule the world under a dictatorship and limiting the freedom of people under a hierarchical system. Image
Then the opposite of that would mean that Joy Boy must’ve been a king of a free country that (obviously) valued freedom and liberty where everyone was seen as an equal

By extension that would mean himself too, and that’s what the Straw Hat as a crown symbolizes Image
Crowns as we know them are shown as ornaments that depict authority and superiority, but the Straw Hat is one that could be worn by literally anyone; most fit for a king that doesn’t rule anything and sees himself as an equal of even the most average person Image
So how does this play into Luffy and his Straw Hat exactly?

Well whenever you have a king you also have a monarch. Joyboy’s sons, daughters, wife, etc. were all given Straw Hats as well and when Imu killed Joy Boy, he failed to kill or apprehend at least one member of his family Image
This family member then escaped but was powerless to do anything to stop Imu.

This family member then began his own family and passed down the Straw Hat generation by generation as a reminder for what they’re fighting for.

This ever expanding family was the Family of D. Image
Lastly, we know the D will bring forth another storm and that the D are the enemies of the Gods.

Imu is afraid of the day the One Piece will be uncovered, his truth and that of Joy Boy being revealed, and his reign coming to an end by the family of his sworn enemy. Image

I’ll get flamed but idc. This is (imo) the worst conclusion to any arc in the series. A decade of buildup just for Kaido to be taken out by a Walmart version of Doffy’s finish followed by a timeskip that destroys all the momentum of the declining action.
How do you come off the last chapter with shit like this. Why tf would you do a 7-day timeskip when there are still so many loose ends that need to be addressed.
Did we skip the Dawn? Literally no point in Zunesha coming. Skipping the consequences of G5 and completely ignoring Zoro’s grim reaper situation, nothing on the emperors, Hiyori and Momo reunion, etc. Not even gonna mention the botched plot lines established for Zoro in Act 2.
