"This completes the transition to Apple Silicon" #WWDC23
And now software, starting with Live Voicemail? Aka, a feature @Google Pixel has had for years. #WWDC23
I like this feature, taking advantage of magsafe to enable a new use case, but this is very much a copy of what Google has done with Pixel, again. #WWDC23
Optic ID for privacy, security and payments, iris authentication, something I've written papers about. Apple is setting the standard for privacy on eye tracking #WWDC23#VisionPro
Apple says that it filed over 5,000 patents throughout the #VisionPro's development #WWDC23
More #VisionPro Thoughts 1. If anyone else launched with a cable & external battery, they'd be criticized heavily. Why does Apple get a pass? 2. Many say $3500 isn't a lot for a first gen product for a new category. Even if it was, most of those were business devices, this isn’t
#VisionPro is not a first gen device, it’s Apple’s first gen device. Magic Leap would’ve been a better candidate for first product in the category and comparing that price, even though it was originally pitched as consumer, it ended up being a business device as well.
Many new categories begin as business devices, which mitigates price concerns since ROI is easier to justify higher costs. I don’t think Apple could’ve built #VisionPro at a lower price with these specs. But it has clearly decided to go ultra-premium first for the best experience
Many people are missing @PlayStation's goals with Project Q. The first step is streaming from your PS5 because that's the most solid experience and will allow them to hone in on the experience before it starts to enable cloud streaming and eventually streaming over 5G.
The controller is 1:1 mapped to the PS5 Dual Shock controller, and honestly, the PS5 user interface already seems quite touch-friendly. I could see Sony's hand-held being the most viable competitor to the Steam Deck and Switch with a robust content library and a decent interface.
Sony isn't jumping into the handheld game head first, this is more of a toe-dip and with an 8-inch screen, should be a pretty good experience, especially with a good bezel and reasonable price. I could also see battery life being the best with PS5 local streaming.
.@Apple's announcement with @Broadcom serves multiple purposes, it builds a stronger relationship with an existing trusted supplier and it also helps strengthen Apple's US investment story, which will help it politically, especially leveraging #5G apple.com/newsroom/2023/…
Broadcom will build RF front-end components for Apple, in a multi-year multi-million dollar deal. This could cut out companies like @skyworksinc and @QorvoInc out of future RF front-end deals or significantly reduce their share since Apple likes to have supplier diversity.
Broadcom has long been a supplier to Apple for RF front-end components, even before Avago acquired Broadcom and went by it's old name. This partnership is actually quite established and it is unclear whether this release is a significant expansion of that relationship or not.
I missed tonight's comeback win because we were tired and starving and thirsty. This was a fuckup of epic proportions starting from @TSYS_TSS to @Shift4Payments to @delawarenorth to the @Padres. It's embarrassing you all had a single point of failure with no backups/contingency
No cash payments was a mistake. You could've at least distributed cash drawers or had them as a failsafe when the POS went down or payment processor like this instance. Very disappointed. @erikgreupner
