When Akbar saw a Brahmin begging in a pitiable condition, he sarcastically said towards Birbal - 'Birbal! These are your Brahmins! Who is known as Brahmadeva. They are beggars. Birbal did not say anything at that time. But when Akbar went to the palace, Birbal Image
came back and asked the Brahmin why he begged. Brahmin said - 'I have no money, jewellery, land and I am not much educated either. Hence, begging is my compulsion for the maintenance of the family.
Birbal asked - How much is received in a day by begging?
The Brahmin replied - Six
to eight coins.
Birbal said - If you get some work, will you stop begging?
Brahmin asked - What should I do?
Birbal said - You will have to take bath in Brahmamuhurt and wear clean clothes and chant 101 Gayatri Mantra daily and for this you will get 10 coins daily. The Brahmin
accepted Birbal's proposal. From the next day the Brahmin stopped begging and started chanting the Gayatri Mantra with great devotion and returned to his home in the evening with 10 coins as gift. After a few days, Birbal increased both the number of Gayatri Mantra chants and the
number of coins, after seeing the true devotion and passion of the Brahmin.
Now, due to the power of Gayatri Mantra, the Brahmin is no longer worried about hunger, thirst and physical ailments. Due to Gayatri Mantra chanting, his face started glowing. People's attention started
getting attracted towards Brahmin. Devotees started offering sweets, fruits, money and clothes after seeing him. Now he doesn't even need the coins he gets from Birbal. Even the things offered with devotion to the Brahmin have no attraction anymore. Just he always started
chanting Gayatri with his mind.
The news of Gayatri chanting by a Brahmin saint started spreading everywhere. Devotees started coming from far off places to have darshan. The devotees got the temple and ashram built in the place of penance of the Brahmin. Akbar also got the news
of the fame of Brahmin's penance. The emperor also decided to go for darshan and he took royal gifts and went to meet the saint with Birbal in royal splendor. After reaching there, offered royal gifts and bowed down to the Brahmin. The king came out with Birbal with a heart full
of joy at the sight of such a brilliant saint. Then Birbal asked - Do you know this saint?
Akbar said - No, Birbal, I have met him for the first time today.
Then Birbal said - Maharaj! You know him very well. This is the same beggar Brahmin, on whom you sarcastically said, 'He is
your Brahmin! Who is called Brahmadeva’ Today you yourself have bowed your head at the feet of that Brahmin. There was no limit to Akbar's surprise. Asked Birbal - But how did this big change happen?
Birbal said - Maharaj! He is basically a Brahmin. Due to circumstances, he was
away from the truth and powers of his religion. Gayatri Mantra of religion made the Brahmin 'Brahma' and how forced the emperor to fall at his feet. Because Brahmins are living away from asana and penance, that's why they are suffering. Presently, there is a need that all
Brahmins re-connect with their deeds, know and follow their sanskars, That which has the ability to merge into the original Brahman is Brahman".
If a Brahmin walks firmly on his path of action, the divine powers follow him.
