/2 More than 200 families in Hammonds Plains, Tantallon and Shelburne County have lost their homes in the last two weeks due to the fires. Many of those families have kids involved in sports.
/3 "After the fires broke out we had about 550 players who were in the evacuated zone," said Holly LaPierre, president of Hammonds Plains minor baseball. "There are about 30 players who actually lost their homes."
/4 Cleve's, Ottawa Senators stepping up

Lefebvre has teamed up with Cleve's Source for Sports. Anyone who has gear they want to donate can drop it off at any Source for Sports store in the province.

From those stores the gear is then transported to the company warehouse
/5 in the Burnside Industrial Park.

Eight sets of goalie equipment were donated in Sydney last weekend.

The hockey gear drive will help players in the Metro West Force female hockey club, TASA Minor Hockey Association and minor hockey players in Shelburne County.
/6 Even the NHL's Ottawa Senators are getting involved.

"We'll see what gear we get brought in here first and then if we are short on skates or shin pads or gloves, then the Senators will help us fill in those gaps," said Lefebvre.

There is not one person that could be appointed as Special Rapporteur that the CPC would agree with. Why? They don’t want a report, they want someone to destroy the PM. This was never about foreign interference for them, but a destruction of our democratic institutions. /1
Their attacks on Johnston’s integrity was proof of their hatred and quest for power. The parties that aligned themselves together are going down the wrong path. Their decision to make this investigation about the PM and not about protecting Canada’s interests is telling. /2
Foreign interference from other countries is an attack on us all. It is not a partisan issue, the protection of Canada should be finite. When a party or parties attack our institutions from within our borders, this is a morality problem for those in power. /3

Here is the rescue story I heard about last Sunday when the fires started in #HammondsPlains #NovaScotia

#Halifax fire captain describes risking own life to save elderly man during wildfire. /1

cbc.ca/news/canada/no…
/2 "As we pulled up, everything around the house was on fire. There were trees on two sides, maybe 20 to 30 feet away, and everything was on fire," he said.

Corkum, who was driving, instructed Scott that he had 30 seconds to check the house for the man. Both doors were
/3 locked, so Scott ended up kicking in the front door.

"The elderly gentleman was in his chair unaware of what was going on, unaware of the danger," Corkum said.
