It's a thread for those who couldn't clear #Prelims even after ≥2nd GOOD attempt.
-----------
"लगातार कोशिश करते रहो, सफलता जरूर मिलेगी"
Such lines sound good in Motivational videos, but may be disastrous for the life of many #UPSC aspirants.

I know a lot of "erstwhile" aspirants who invested their entire youth (20s & early 30s) in #UPSC preparation, but were left empty-handed after exhausting their age/attempts. Thus, destroying their potentials.
So, realising when to quit this exam is extremely critical.
(2/n)
3 thoughts which prevent aspirants from taking such decision:
💭1. Gambler's Fallacy: "I've invested time & energy for this exam, & have accumulated so much Knowledge. It will all get wasted if I quit. I cannot fail everytime. Better to try once more, probably i will succeed."
Suggestion: Decide rationally if you've decent probably of clearing all 3 stages, based upon multiple factors:
* previous attempt performance
* present preparation level
* mock test marks
* finances
* family support
* category, etc
Think about huge Opportunity Cost also.

💭2. Social stress & Ego:
"लोग क्या सोचेंगे, कि मैंने हार मान ली, कि मेरे बस की ही नहीं थी ... "
"ये तो मेरे माता पिता का सपना था ... And, it's my responsibility to fulfill my parents' dreams"
"एक बार जो मैंने कमिटमेंट कर दी ..."
(5/n)
Suggestion:
May be you are a fish trying to climb a tree.
If that's the case, better to focus your time & energy in opportunities/competitions where you can play utilising your Strengths.
(6/n)
Suggestion:
There is no shame in Retreating Back.
Even Lord Krishna had to run away from battlefield once. इसलिए भगवान श्री कृष्ण को "रणछोड़" नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
और, हम तो इंसान हैं 🙂
So, one can make Wise Strategic Exit, after a rational analysis.

💭3. "I want all that Fame/Glory/Power which Civil Services provide, at any personal cost. I will keep on trying to achieve it, till my last breath."
(8/n)
Suggestion:
Undoubtedly, Civil Services are good. But, they aren't that great which many coaching institutes or चार लोग portray.
Their ➕ are over-glorified, ➖ are rarely told.
So, make Informed Decisions. Serving officers won't reveal much😅, so talk to retired ones.
(9/n)
All the Best for the Life ahead 🙂👍
I hope some good coaching institutes & mentors also highlight these practical aspects in 1-2 sessions. Moreover, a Career Counseling session briefing about Alternate Career Plans/Options should also be conducted.

In past few months, I tried to share #UPSCPrelims Tricks/Tips with aspirants. Initially, I had planned to cover last 5-6 yrs' >100Qs where we can get answer with Logic. But due to work load, I couldn't get time for it.
2021 is mostly coverd. Sharing the remaining Qs of 2020 now.
Economy has a lot of interrelations & interconnections.
In Economy Questions asking about the Reasons, Factors, Causes, Impacts, Effects etc, keep your mind open and think of different logical possibilities.
* Start from latest (2021), move back
* 1 paper/day
* 3hr alarm; can give 15-20 min extra for initial 3-4 papers
* Give avg 2-3 minutes/Q; Max 3-4 minutes/Q (use Stopwatch)
* Check Ans from Official Key
For Questions you couldn't answer (within 3-4 min) or answered wrong: Check the Solution (from Solved Papers), Understand it, Memorize its methodology.
Ultimately you will know broadly 2 areas of Questions: (1) Manageable/Strong: which you usually solve in <3min, with decent accuracy (2) Unmanageable/Weak: unsolvable for you, or, taking >3min, or, poor accuracy
Tips to manage #UPSCPrelims Exam Stress/Anxiety 😟😥😫
(Based on popular demand in last few days)

Remember that some level of stress is experienced by almost every serious UPSC aspirant. It may sometimes impact efficiency. A few aspirants may even break down.
It's NORMAL.

Undoubtedly, Civil Services are good. But, they not that great which most coaching institutes or some persons portray.
Their ➕ are over-glorified, ➖ are rarely told.
There are many other avenues which can offer what u want in life.
I hope this truth will reduce stress🙂

💤🛌
SLEEP is an underrated aspect of exam preparation.
An optimum hours (6-8) is essential for memorization and to reduce stress. Sleep deprivation (<6hrs) is ☠️.
Proper/Regular daily-schedule & sleep cycle is equally important. Don't vary it much.
