That compound is METHYLENE BLUE.
Here's what you need to know
(THREAD)
HISTORY
Methylene Blue (MB) was invented in 1876 as a chemical dye for the textile industry. MB dyed jeans were a thing in the late 19th century
However its use solely as a textile dye would be short lived.
In 1891 scientists Paul Ehrlich discovered that MB was anti-parasitic
This discovery led MB to become a treatment for Malaria...thus becoming the FIRST synthetic drug ever used for medicinal purposes.
But MB was just getting started...as scientists were realizing its potential was seemingly widespread.
Ehrlich called it a "magic bullet"
MB became popular in the 20th century for treating:
-Malaria
-UTIs
-Psychosis
-Cyanide/CO poisoning
As well as for:
-Bacteriologic staining
-Fish tank cleaning
"Even at the loo we see, we pee, navy blue"
During WWII, the U.S. navy used MB extensively in the South Pacific for it's anti-malarial properties...where its excrement from the body in urine turned its color blue...
Sailors hated this part, so it ran out of favor quickly...
However this was helpful for use in treatment of psychosis as it clearly told clinicians that their patients were actually taking the compound
MB is an monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), which is an enzyme that breaks down neurotransmitters in the brain like serotonin.
COVID
In JAN 2021 (!!) scientists found that MB inhibited SARS-COV-2 spike proteins...more effectively than Cholorquine & Suramin (also anti-parasitic drugs)
Quite strange you never heard about this publication huh?
This is no shock however because EVERYONE knows that Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is effective against Covid...
Well HCQ is a derivative of Chloroquine...
AND Chloroquine was derived from Methylene Blue!
MITOCHONDRIAL BENEFITS
90% of the energy you produce comes from Mitochondria
95% of the Oxygen we BREATHE is utilized in our Mito
This all takes place in the Electron Transport Chain (ECT)
Methylene Blue is so effective because its ability to improve cellular respiration...
In order for the ECT to run smoothly, electrons need to be donated and make it to Cytochrome C Oxidase, where they eventually react with Oxygen (final e- acceptor) to form H2O
MB has the ability to act as an electron donor, thus improving a limiting factor in the chain...
However...Methylene Blue can ALSO serve as an electron acceptor.
MB forms an equilibrium btw. oxidized & reduced form...acting as an "Electron Cycler" coined by Dr. Gonzalez-Lima (MB expert).
MB can also bypass complexes & donate directly to Cytochrome C Oxidase
MB could be considered a "master antioxidant".
Free radicals are a by-product of an imperfect ECT & MB's ability to donate electrons to improve the chain + accept electrons helps mitigate excessive oxidative stress.
B/c of its benefits for cellular respiration, MB has the ability to increase energy production in the brain + protect your brain from degeneration due to oxidative damage
Your brain is an energy hog...consuming 20% of glucose + oxygen AT REST
The mitochondrial benefits are clear, but MB has also been linked to upregulating genes related to neurogenesis in one study, likely via a supporting mechanism (mitochondrial efficiency)
MB has been shown to promote clearance of tau proteins, which accumulate during Alzh./Dem.
Gonzalez-Lima has shown that MB improved spatial memory, & others have shown improved psychomotor vigilance + short term memory after MB administration.
Improving Mitochondrial function is the ultimate nootropic, because your brain cannot store energy.
Methylene Blue is on the WHO List of Essential Medicine's
MB is used to treat methemoglobinemia, cyanide, & carbon monoxide poisoning
All of these conditions inhibit cellular respiration in Mitochondria
"When you don't know what to do, give them Methylene Blue."
ER Docs know the importance of MB.
MB is likely the most efficacious compound at improving mitochondrial function-->the driving force of LIFE aka energy in our biology
So why has no one outside of the health community heard of it?
FOLLOW THE MONEY.
Methylene Blue has been around for 150 years.
It is unpatentable + low cost, so Big Pharma won't touch it with a 10ft pole.
Dr. Gonzalez Lima in multiple podcasts mentions this issue, & that he has been dismissed by oncologists for that exact reason.
Our medical/healthcare system is set up so the patient is the product
Doctor's prescribe the best option on their short list of pharmaceuticals for treatment, and are not incentivized by any means to find the most efficacious, low cost treatment.
This is CENTRALIZED HEALTHCARE.
SIDE EFFECTS/DOWNSIDE
In low doses (<5mg/kg), MB appears to be extremely safe.
At far higher doses, MB could cause adverse inflammatory side effects. Some countries regard MB as harmful for this reason AND for its ability to inhibit MAO as mentioned earlier.
For this reason, MB should NEVER be taken if someone is also taking serotonergic psychiatric medications as high levels of serotonin could build up in the brain as a result...AKA Serotonin Syndrome.
MB is regarded as a potent + reversible monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI).
All the neuro-protective, anti-oxidant beneficial effects of MB come at low doses anyway.
It's best to start very low and see how you feel, then work your way up if needed.
When I take MB, i typically take ~2-10mg (I weigh 81kg).
I do not take it everyday.
Always DYOR
QUALITY MATTERS
If you want to supplement with Methylene Blue, you need to have Pharmaceutical Grade Quality. Do not just buy some off Amazon.
There are two brands that i know and i have personally used (not affiliated):
1) Troscriptions (Troches)
2) Mito Lab

You've likely heard its good for you and that it can be found in Shilajit, but do you actually know what it is and why it is beneficial for your health?

What is Fulvic Acid?
FA is a bi-product from the decomposition of the organic matter in soil
It is a humic substance
For this reason, it is high in many trace minerals and polyphenolic compounds
BENEFITS of Fulvic Acid
-Potent Antioxidant
-Beneficial for Mitochondrial Health
-Binds to toxic heavy metals-strong chelator
-Rich source of minerals
Why MELATONIN is one of the MOST IMPORTANT compounds we produce in our body...
...and HOW you can OPTIMIZE your INTERNAL PRODUCTION
(THREAD)
Melatonin is known primarily for its use as the "sleep signal hormone" but in reality it is so much more.
Melatonin produced in the pineal gland does signal day/night for our body.
However, LESS THAN 5% of the melatonin in our body is produced by the pineal gland...
Key melatonin functions:
-Multi functional anti-oxidant
-Conveyor of message of darkness + sleep promotion in diurnal animals
-Regulation of reproduction in photoperiodic animals
-Modulation of energy metabolism
-Managing inflammation
Exciting New Research from @vanvlietphd (recent podcast guest)

Short answer: YES
Grass finished bison compared to Grain Finished had
-Better Omega 6:3 ratio
-Better overall fat profile
-Higher beneficial phytochemical content
-Better animal metabolic health
-Lower advanced glycation end products (AGEs)
Before diving into the specifics, this DOES NOT MEAN that the grain finished bison is by any means "unhealthy"
This study has shed some light on how different finishing processes and a more biologically consistent diet can affect the health of the animal & nutrition of its meat.
But how many people are actually becoming more decentralized?
There is one way EVERYONE can do their part to go against Big Corps and Big Gov...
Its how you buy your FOOD
(Short thread)
You can't buy a car from a small company.
You can't buy your phone from a small company.
You can't really buy much clothing that is made locally or from a small company.
You know what you can buy locally from small producers?
Food.
Here's why it matters.
1) When you buy local, you are KEEPING the money in your local economy
Most big food companies are HQ'd in different states or even countries, so you are not seeing any return on that purchase in your local community.
You should be willing to pay more for this reason alone.
