Some inconvenient #Juneteenth facts

1) The Emancipation Proclamation was designed to help Lincoln win the Civil War, not end slavery (it specifically "excepted" Union states & southern states then under Union control) Image
2) The Emancipation Proclamation, which came two years into the war, was designed to deter Britain from coming to the aid of the Confederacy, as they had been considering (the ploy worked)
3) "[The Emancipation Proclamation] was necessary to put the South at a moral disadvantage by transforming the contest from a war waged against states fighting for their independence, into a war against States fighting for the maintenance and extension of slavery, by making some… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
4) Thanks to the Emancipation Proclamation excepting Union territory, Lincoln's family was spared. (His father-in-law owned slaves and his wife's share of her father's estate came from the proceeds of sold slaves.)
5) Lincoln was racist and thought blacks & whites could never co-exist. He told a group of free blacks who visited the White House: “Why should people of your race be colonized, and where? Why should they leave this country? You and we are different races. We have between us a… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
6) Virtually every slave in the U.S. came from slave ship operators based in Northern states. For example, between 1755-1766, Massachusetts imported 23,000 African slaves. After importing slaves was made illegal in 1808, northern states continued importing approx. 40k/yr.
7) The South's leading men morally opposed slavery & believed "the influence of Christianity" would eventually cleanse the south of the institution (Robert E. Lee & Stonewall Jackson, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, George Mason, Richard Henry Lee, James… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
8) New Jersey, Delaware, and Kentucky voted down the 13th Amendment banning slavery, and continued selling slaves after its ratification. All three states were technically on the Union side during the Civil War. Only one southern state, Mississippi, voted down the 13th Amendment
9) Lincoln admitted the Civil War was not being fought over ending slavery: “If there be those who would not save the Union unless they could at the same time destroy slavery, I do not agree with them. My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
10) Slavery was still legal in Washington, D.C., following the Emancipation Proclamation & the federal government — under President Lincoln — continued enforcing the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 during the Civil War

Thread: Quick update on how @Google is waging the information wars on behalf of progressives. Image
@Google As my publishing colleagues already know, @Google effectively controls the entire online advertising industry. Unless you’re big enough to sell ads directly to advertisers — and almost no publishers are — you need Google’s blessing in order to earn any money through online ads. Image
When someone wants to advertise online, they typically use an exchange like AdWords (now called Google Ads), where they choose the amount they’re willing to spend per thousand impressions (CPM), the type of sites they want their ads to appear, etc.

Sen. @ChuckGrassley: “The foreign national who allegedly bribed Joe & Hunter Biden allegedly has audio recordings of his conversation[s], 17 such recordings. According to the 1023, the foreign national possesses 15 audio recordings of phone calls between him & Hunter Biden [and]… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Cont’d: “These recordings were allegedly kept as a sort of insurance policy for the foreign national in case that he got into a tight spot. The 1023 also indicates that then-vice President Joe Biden may have been involved in Burisma employing Hunter Biden. Based on the facts… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Cont’d: “Special Counsel Jack Smith has used a recording against former President Trump. Well, what is U.S. Attorney Weiss doing with respect to these alleged Joe & Hunter Biden recordings that are apparently relevant to the high-stakes bribery scheme? These Trump indictments are a test for never-Trump "conservatives," who supposedly were so disillusioned with Trump's departure from settled norms they had no choice but to spend the last half decade at war with Republicans.
Because if it's the rule of law and established norms that are to remain ascendent, these Trump cases are clearly far more egregious departures than Trump himself.
The Manhattan DA's case is surely the biggest joke of all. The Constitution clearly states a president cannot be indicted without first being impeached and convicted. Trump was impeached but never convicted, yet DA Bragg ignored the Constitution and plowed ahead anyway.

Hey @Twitter & @TwitterSupport — Aren't you supposed to send a notification to the user when you suspend an account, as you've done w/ @GrabienMedia? We're completely suspended w/o any explanation.
I appealed, noting Twitter never even notified us about the suspension, nor provided a rationale. Twitter's response: "Please respond ... with the reason you believe your account suspension was in error." Maybe b/c you can't even think of a reason yourselves?! ImageImage
I’ve pinged @TwitterSupport dozens of times over the years. I’ve never received support.

Did you know China owes its nuclear & space program to the @FBI? Here's the story: At 24 years old, a rocket pioneer named H.S. Tsien emigrated from China to the U.S. to attend MIT, then later Caltech ...
@FBI During WW2, he worked at the Manhattan Project, for which he was granted the highest security clearance. Tsien was regarded as an "undisputed genius." He co-founded the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California & later ran the Guggenheim Jet Propulsion Center at Caltech.
He served in the U.S. Air Force & had long sought American citizenship, but the process was delayed due to bureaucratic bungling.

Trump keeps hitting DeSantis from the left:

— Not sufficiently enthusiastic about entitlement programs

— Too pro-life

— Fought against amnesty
Here's the question for Trump's MAGA fans: Should DeSantis win the primary, will you support him against Biden? Or are you wedded not to principles but to fluffing Trump's ego? #TimeForChoosing
