#OceanGate missing submarine is a sad situation and I pray it works out and everyone is found safe. Here is the thing. The submarine is a joke. The ballast system requires shifting of people to jettison used pipes. Wtf? It is a tragedy waiting to happen. It isn’t a game.
I spent 11.5 years in the Navy and was sub qualified. Ocean Gate submarine is nothing more than a play toy for people with too much money and not enough commonsense ! Underwater, especially at the depths most military submarines operate isn’t a place to play…
Consider that Ocean Gate goes deeper than most military subs by quite a lot and it becomes even less of a place to play or be tourist. On Submarines the crew is qualified to operate the systems and trains constantly on what to do in case of emergencies. What about #OceanGate?
I’m betting the passengers on that sub got the equivalent of an airline pre takeoff safety briefing. Any number of things can go wrong on a submarine and the people onboard need to know how to respond accordingly and quickly. Fire, flooding, loss of power, snagged, etc.
To expect the government to swoop in to rescue a commercial submarine, a deep submergence one, is a bit much. Never dive deeper than your guardian Angel can swim. That submarine exceeded the depth it’s guardian angel can go and then some. The pressure at that depth is great.
4,650 PSI. Even a small hole would be a bad thing at that depth. That submarine isn’t big and it has very little reserve buoyancy and that means it won’t take much water to sink. I’m not trying to be a downer. I’m just pissed it’s allowed to happen at all.
Now we have others risking their lives because some rich people wanted to risk their lives for a thrill. Yes, everyone who is part of the search and rescue is risking their lives in mid ocean. Resources and emergency response has to be redirected. It’s a waste.
And if they submarine is found intact on the bottom, what then? I hate to break it to you but at 15,000 ft bellow the surface there aren’t very many options for rescue, pretty much zero. I don’t know of any countries with sub rescue equipment for those depths.
15,000 feet is pretty much the realm of specialized research submarines and they aren’t configured for emergency rescue like military submarines. Any rescue attempt would have to be made up as they go. That can have a negative effect on the rescuers if they fail.
#OceanGate had no business putting anyone’s life in danger with this venture. It maybe international waters and near impossible to regulate but someone should consider stopping such BS tourism to the Titanic which should be treated as a grave site not a tourist spot!
#Research is one thing but #tourism under the guise of research is just stupid and dangerous. Yeah, billionaires have money to pay to do these things but when things go bad it is the government agencies that have to come to the rescue. Too much money with no commonsense!

One possible reason, among a few, that #OceanGate submarine lost communications and hasn’t been located is something that messes with how sound travels through water, #thermoclines. They can act as blocks or conduits for sound. Caused by differences in water density.
Water density changes because of temperature and salinity, mainly. When a sound encounters these changes in density it can be reflected so something below it won’t be heard by something on top. They can also form a conduit where sound bounces between two layers.
When thermoclines act as a sound conduit they allow the sound to travel great distances and still be picked up. So a boat on the surface above a submarine may not hear it but a sonar miles and miles away may pick it up like it’s next door.

Imagine being trapped in something the size of a minivan. Imagine it is pitch black. The air is thick because you and 4 others have been breathing the same air for hours. You are trapped under 15,000 feet of water. It’s cold because there is no power. Condensation everywhere…
You can get up and move around because of the cramped space and even if you could it would just use more oxygen which you have a limited supply of on hand. No contact with the outside. Every now and again you hear the creaking of the hull caused by the tremendous pressure.
You have limited food and water. You have a head because the CO2 is building up. The CO2 scrubbers aren’t working as well as they should. It could be the humidity, the condensation that is cutting down the CO2 removal efficiency. The air reeks of BO and other stuff.

#Racism doesn’t go away because laws are past. #Racism can only be defeated by education and people wanting to change. The #CivilRightsAct didn’t end racism, it just made it harder for people to discriminate against people based on #Race. It wasn’t a foolproof remedy…
#Hate and #Racism still exist but they are not as obvious as before, at least not for most people. #Racism is just evil and it likes to hide in the darkness. What does it do? It pools together until it becomes strong enough to be a threat. Like roaches breeding or rats.
Unfortunately, sometimes #Racism find dark recesses in our institutions and it grows. Law enforcement has been one and maybe it’s because there isn’t enough oversight because police like to police their own. So the few bad apples cause problems with deadly consequences…
