The session starts with @AdrianHiel from @energycities presenting the needs for building decarbonisation at local level from #localstaff4climate report:

📈 +3% of local gov's public expenditures

Zooming into the case of France🇫🇷 Aurore Colin from @I4CE_ presents the needs they identified in their study:

💶12 billion euros in climate investment
👥 for which they need 25,000 more positions dedicated to climate action, just to steer local policies and investment

From @GemeenteUtrecht, Inge Van De Klundert goes into their needs to develop the mandatory EU #heating plan for their city, requiring the municipality to go from 6 full time equivalents to more than 25 in just 2 years that would be dedicated to transforming their heating system.

Kamila Fordońska from the city of Krakow 🇵🇱 presents the programme she is part of, which created a network of advisors for each county to implement the regional climate and energy plan, assisting municipalities develop strategic documents & more.

Carolin Fischer from the German Institute of Urban Affairs 🇩🇪presents their funding scheme for #localgov, through which they have already funded the hiring of over 1,400 climate action managers, proven to increase cities' success in funding projects & reducing emissions.

Sebastien Combeaud from @EU_reforms presents their Technical Support Instrument & how they help regional & local govs address the skill gap for the green transition 💬"it's not just about green jobs, but about greening jobs, meaning adding green skills to existing jobs".
