Today’s nursing is a highly skilled profession, it’s not just a vocation. Yes we all do it because we love it, if we didn’t we really wouldn’t survive, but that should not mean we are not paid our worth. 13/17
Nurses (& Doctors) are leaving in their droves. Unless something is done to encourage them to stay, this mass exodus will continue. You cannot just replace years of hands on experience. 14/17
The obligation to spend nights, evenings, weekends & Bank Holidays away from your family & still not being able to pay the bills at the end of the month is no longer acceptable. Nor are food banks in hospitals FFS! 15/17
It's time to take care of our nurses like they’ve been taking care of our loved ones for so many years. We cannot keep unethically recruiting International Nurses, we need to encourage people into the profession. Without nurses there is no #NHS & then we’re all done for. 16/17
If like me, you want to save the NHS, please follow & support these accounts:
The fact Care Home residents were not being protected in the early stages of the pandemic was identified in a damning report by Amnesty International in Oct ‘20. I wrote to my MP @tomhunt1988 & am still awaiting answers. I also had this letter printed in my local paper. 1/6
The full “As If Expendable”Report by Amnesty International is attached. 2/6
“Sending thousands of patients untested from hospitals into Care Homes, at the height of a pandemic, was wrong and put lives at risk.”
They were not good times @danielgoyal, the fear & prejudice these poor souls endured, even from healthcare workers, was huge. Media coverage of the epidemic was shocking & very judgmental. 1/9
My son was a toddler & my Mum was really concerned I could put him at risk, I can still remember telling her I was nursing them not sleeping with them!
At its worst I was working on a small purpose built Infectious Disease Unit situated away from other wards & departments. 2/9
We had six single rooms with an entrance area for gowning & masking up. The room had an independent air supply. These patients were shut away from everyone, this really didn’t help dispel the fear of the disease & made their last days very lonely ones indeed. 3/9
“He hasn’t been seen knocking on doors since May. He takes a lot of photos, but has a reputation for not putting in the work. He takes up an issue, then loses interest. Fire-resistant cladding and special educational needs are two issues in point……. 2/
…..,where relations between him and campaigners have soured. As one of his opponents remarked: “He makes a song and dance about certain issues, but a lot of it is performative.”
There is also his failure to back the Ipswich bid for city status. 3/
I can’t believe this evidence was given to the Select Committee in June 2021 but has not been reported by the MSM. It is a long & difficult read but leaves me in no doubt at all that this government & its agencies have been negligent in their legal duty to protect HCW’s. 1/
I have been writing to my MP @tomhunt1988 since April 2020 stating my concerns about his governments handling of the pandemic, the inadequate protection against Covid for HCW’s & providing considerable supporting evidence. To date I have not received any explanation. 2/
David Osborn BSc, CMIOSH, SpDipEM Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner should be applauded for speaking out & all healthcare unions & professional organisations should be calling for further investigation into his very serious allegations. He states:
3/
Johnson & his government don’t care about you, they didn’t even care that they were knowingly putting healthcare workers in danger. Please share this, it cannot be allowed to disappear. #JohnsonOut19 #CovidInquiry#CriminalNegligence 1/
“Copies of the bundle of letters seen by Byline Times reveal how Osborn’s efforts to draw attention to the widespread systematic failure to protect healthcare workers fell on deaf ears across Boris Johnson’s government.” 2/ #JohnsonOut19#CovidInquiry
I have written to not #MyMP@tomHunt1988 on numerous occasions providing evidence that enhanced PPE protection was needed. They are all culpable in failing to protect those on the #Covid frontline & consequently the wider community. #JohnsonOut19#CriminalNegligence 3/
Can I please ask all my followers to retweet this, it cannot & must not be allowed to get lost in everything else that’s going on. This government are culpable & I want to see justice for all lost healthcare workers. #WilfulNegligence#LambsToTheSlaughter#JohnsonOut16 1/4
“There is sufficient prima-facie evidence to suggest that the offence has led to the potentially avoidable deaths of hundreds of healthcare workers and the debilitating disease known as Long COVID in thousands of other healthcare workers,” the letter says.” 2/4 #JohnsonOut16
“An estimated 122,000 UK healthcare workers are now suffering from ‘Long Covid’, many of whom as a result are considering quitting their professions.” 3/4 #CorporateManslaughter#LongCovid#JohnsonOut16
